the marks below the door handle and on the front bumper will polish out easily, that is somthing that i would do myself with the kit that i have got

the top of the door by the window looks really bad in your picture and i have no idea what is causing that or what you would do to correct it, that may need paint to make it right

you say it looks ok the the naked eye and even looks ok when the sun shines on it ?
  • Thanks, that's good to know. The marks by the window is where I complained about what looked like splashes/blobs of grease. Again, they only were visible when the sun shone at them (but easier to spot than the holograms). Nissan returned the car, with the marks gone even though they said it was bird's droppings and it was my fault for not cleaning it off straight away and for not having supaguard and there was nothing they could do to get rid of the marks!!!!
The car looks ok there now. In this autumn light nothing shows up, only in that photo. I think I will take another photo tomorrow as that one was taken in the summer.

it will be interesting to see some more pictures of what it looks like in the autumn light

I wouldnt let them paint the front of the car to get rid of the holograms but as i said i am not sure what you could do about the top of the door

i would still be inclined to take it to a detailer and ask their oppinion, have a quick google for detailing services in ?????? area, have a look at their website and google their name for reviews

a good detailer will have a wealth of knowledge when it comes to car paint and what steps are needed to correct it, if a detailer says it is fixable then put pressure on the dealer to correct rather than paint it
  • Thanks. Will google now.

Get yourself over to detailingworld.co.uk, you should be able to locate a recommended detailer in your area as well getting some decent advice about how to proceed.

Where abouts in the country are you?

another important question is where do you wash or get your car washed and how often is it washed
  • I have it washed at Tesco's once a month.

So how do you know that the car washers, presumably you have it hand washed, haven't caused the paint defects. TBH, I wouldn't go anywhere near these guys, especially not with a new car.

I have it washed at Tesco's once a month.

is this at one of the car wash teams that roam the carpark with a cleaning cart and no water supply or is it one of the setups where they rent a corner of the car park and have a water supply and jetwash

the problem with this type of outfit is you do not know what they are putting on your car

they want a good result quickly so often use very harsh cleaning chemicals to achieve the results, they have been known to use truck wash or traffic film remover on paintwork and undiluted acid to clean brake dust off the wheels

if they have been using this type of chemical on your paintwork then the supagaurd that you paid for will be long gone and your paint will have little or no protection left on it
  • Well, now I know not to use these car washes: it is a permanent set up with a water supply etc and have only had it washed 3 times since July.
But I do know, from the Nissan paint shop man and the warranty team that inspected the car that the fault was there before I bought the car.
