    NSD no 3.

Woke with very bad back - had to ask DS3 to go downstairs for a yoghurt for me. Dozed several times with not much improvement. Took 2 painkillers and slept through several phone calls and DS3 trying to wake me up. When I awoke I was pain free but need to be very cautious about how far I bend - could lean a little to clean out the bath with the shower head, couldn't get down far enough to wash my hair.

Mum had phoned to say she would be at the hospital tomorrow, so rang back and asked if I should visit today (decided that attempting housework was a bad idea). Her partner was at the daycentre (he has just started going for 2 days a week - this will increase as needed, he would stay overnight if mum had to go in hospital) so we had some quiet time before he came home and he was tired from the day so very quiet when he came home.

Mum mentioned some wool which was to be passed on to my cousin so I started on the cupboards of doom (not the worst ones actually). First cupboard had recipes. I have whittled down lots of the loose ones - suggested discarding anything with unusual ingredients ie ones that are not already in the cupboard, any with almonds (partner doesn't like), cherries (mum is allergic) etc or too fussy (mum isn't doing cakes for the church fairs anymore so no need to make more cakes/ posher cakes/ than everyone else put together - two years ago this meant a 9am to 9pm day and both of us in bed for a week. The only thing stopping me from walking out was the thought of her carrying on alone and ending up in hospital.

Cupboard no 2 had a miscellaneous bag - it wasn't what we wanted but I could see photos in which were being damaged. Skipped cupboard 3 and tackled a double cupboard, found the wool, put knitting needles from 3 places all in one place and left mum with half a double cupboard empty.

I have come home with stuff for my cousin, material I had lent mum (she has kept some small pieces) and loads of ramdom stuff for the charity shops. My counsellor imposed an embargo on me 'doing work' when I go there but I feel better, the more I can get out of there. Realistically mum does very little cooking or baking any more, will probably never use a sewing machine again (she has 2) and I will probably end up completing the sewing projects. There is also a suitcase full of 'craft' materials (hopefully in the shed). It just takes time and a lot of adjusting - she can't do these things but is holding on to the idea that she can.

Took a taxi both ways but mum gave me a fiver which made me 10p profit. Haven't done any walking but lots of bending forward - I turned the armchair round to face the cupboards - and some lifting.

Today I am grateful for my back stopping hurting, quiet time with mum and for 're-discovering' some fabric. Also grateful that DS3 stayed indoors - it's the anniversary of his/our accident and I still get jittery. Ds2 played his first rugby match since the concussion last weekend. He thought it would be an easy match as they were playing team with a much better team nearby so his friend said they would be men who didn't make the grade for the good team. They had 5 ringers from the good team, 5 of their own first team (young and strong, DS2 is nearly 30) and DS2 was involved in a bad tackle (accidental). he has scrapes all down both legs, a bruise over one eye, his right hand is strapped up and other injuries. Who was it who said boys never grow up - they just play with bigger b*lls/ more expensive toys.

Toni's friend - I hope you are feeling better today.

I swear sometimes the only difference is the packaging, if you google beautyholicsanonymous it gives you a list of related cosmetic companies, i tend to find brands from the same group of companies react to my skin in the same manner.13

Thanks for the tip Massa. I'll have a look at that site. I have heard that Bourjois is made in the same factory as Chanel and the only real difference is the packaging and fragrance as you say.

I've just got back from the Christmas Fair. All I can say is that a line will have to be drawn under today. I've an awful feeling YNAB will blow up when I input my entries. BUT - the NSD sun WILL shine over Seasideville tomorrow!

Love from a slightly sozzled Seasidegal (thrifty will eject me from the thread at this rate!):D

  • Spend day as predicted, got cat food from Lidl and some clementines from M&S plus just ordered pet food order from Zooplus.

Tea was leftover curry from last night but with chips instead of rice so nothing extra from the freezer but isn't curry more amazing on the 2nd night!!!
  • Evening all!

Didn't get chance to log on yesterday as was manic - did all the housework, had our new dining table delivered then realised we need a table cover and tablecloth (didn't have either for our old cheapo table) so no NSD for me. While I was out also got some YS lasagne, bagels, bread and Xmas biccies to put away for Christmas so £9.35 from the food budget.

Today however was a NSD! In laws came to visit and paid for a takeaway so nothing spent and a yummy dinner!

Have a good night everyone x

I have been away with work most of this week so have just caught up with the thread. Everyone is doing so well.

I have only managed 1 NSD so far so will probably be court martialled back to civilian life! I lost a day to a £2.05 cup of tea as a colleague was picking me up to go to a work event and we arrived 1.5 hours early and my poor cough couldn't wait all that time for a free cuppa.

I did win a cookery book and apron and got some other goodies too :D

Today was a spend day and I have broken all the rules by eating a chippy tea and drinking a bottle of beer. :o

We did take the dog out for a walk so got some exercise and we cancelled a DD of DH's which was no longer needed saving £15/month.

Tomorrow should be a NSD. We will have omelette for tea after our PT session as DH managed to pick up 10 large eggs reduced to 30p yesterday :)
    Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
    Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
    Make £2021 extra income - £99.75

Well done on the NSD front, wombling, roadkill finds and other MSE achievements.

Spend day here today. Did a top up shop including vests for the kids, cat food and litter etc. Hope to get through the next few days without spending. Got four lamb shanks for £10 as we usually have lamb on guy fawkes night. Will slow cook them on Sat. But rather than giving everybody on each as usual, will strip the meat and keep at least half for stovies and another meal. Oh and OH managed to sneak a case of beer in the trolley.

Had one rollie out of habit after the kids were in bed. But half way througb thought what am i doing, thought of this afternoon's chat and put it out.

    mother:nerd take it easy.

seasidegirl and xspender you can join me on the naughty step ;)

Will try - just logged onto facebook (switching from one game to another) and found DS1 saved an old man who was falling down the stairs on the bus this morning and took an elbow to the face in the process. Good job my blood pressure isn't a problem.
