  • Good morning,

Yesterday was a spend day so I made the most of it and bought a ton of xmas presents so I should save some spend days in the future.

Signed up to the amazon prime free month trail, very impressed so far.

Everyone is doing fab with the challenge - I am certainly keeping on track, I don't want Thrifty questioning my spends:eek:

Last rule of the challenge "• And finally be honest about everything. If something has to be bought, make up for it over the next few days....." :p You are your own judge, if you're on track and sticking to your budget then that's fine.

So yesterday wasn't a NSD because I've just read above on Seasidegal's note that even if it's budgeted spends it doesn't count, so my 12.50 food shop blew it boooooo!
    Nevermind, lesson learnt!!

Today is more productive and I managed a NSD today despite running out of loo roll!! I have put a box of face tissues in there instead to keep us going til tomorrow which is a spend day :rotfl:
And I've run out of washing up liquid so basically I am not doing the washing up tonight - have I taken this too far?! OH will be happy as I will be cooking so he normally would wash up!!

    That's the spirit :T

I managed to resist spending in the shops with my son and more importantly with my Mum.

Had already given you a number :p
Had a really awful day today. C's sister's funeral. Thought I could hold it all together but have failed miserably. Tomorrow is another day..

    Hugs Toni'sfriend.

Today will be SFD number 3, gym class at lunch time and salad for lunch.

Well, I'm a pushover. Here goes to being honest for I have sinned and had a drink last night. Oh came home after his football practice with some (cheap) drinks. And I had a few rollies. Well, I confessed and today is another day.

    toni'sfriend - hugs to you.

DD is home from school today with her sore mouth. I am having a day off cycling, my legs are very tired, I am working today and will try to visit my mum.

Sainsburys delivered my groceries last night, I have some online vouchers from them for £10 off a £50 shop so I used that, then they sent me some more for £4.50 off a £30 shop running at the same time so I did the minimum spend for yesterdays delivery and will call there tonight and use the other one - hope this makes sense. They also overcharged me 50p on an item yesterday so I rang to complain and they emailed me a £3 voucher to use.

I have bought some raffle tickets from DD's school, they were £2.50 for a book and I used her scouts money from Monday when she was out for halloween and didn't go.

Bob - is it your sons birthday? I find that they are happy to just have a few friends round at home with pizza etc and maybe a couple of silly games organized. Lots of ideas online for games to play that cost nothing.

  • Food wise I am seriously clearing out my freezer and cupboards! Felt somewhat smug when I told my hairdresser that I am trying to spend £20 a week on food and she told me spends £180 for four! A week! I nearly fell off my chair!
No NSD yet - was hoping for today but need milk but that's all.
Need to go for a run tonight but dog walked so exercise on track.
Trying to work out what's needed this month money wise - we have just moved into our house and (well, 2 months ago now) and there is always something needing doing. I think I better prioritise the creatures who have taken up residence in the loft. I shall cancel the plumber as its only air in heating system and I can live with this (bleeding radiators is not the answer sadly as tried). Rodent control or bird control as it is likely is more important!
Feel bad as my husband may be going to Ottowa on business in January and I know he would love to fly on to Calgary to see a friend for a few days but I just cannot see how we can afford it.
Well, we keep going don't we?! I have never been so controlled with my spending.

    Good feeling isn't it.

£180 seems a lot but isn't that much for someone that doesn't give food shopping much thought or planning. Even just buying brands and a few more ready meals can bring a food shop way up.

I realised my rule to finish off everything before buying more is a bit ambitious with kids. Or I should've planned better and stuck some bread in the freezer. Plus I find it hard to say no to my kids in terms of wanting another banana etc if they're hungry because they were meant to last the week. This will need improving. Next week needs better planning. Ran out of bread now but will hopefully last till Sat when I do my next little big shop (totally wittled the shopping list down to essentials as there is still enough for loads of dinners).

At least OH is getting better at accepting to be told what's for dinner rather than having a choice :rotfl:. Refined my way of making it sound special and attractive.

  • Morning all, another no spend day today in the chilly Southwest. Bit cream crackered today but too much to do to rest. Homemade quiche and chips for tea tonight - just need to go a squeeze a chicken for another egg. We have 6 chucks at the bottom of the garden but so far this week only one egg per day - they are moulting so it's normal but if it doesn't pick up soon there will be stern warnings issued! ;)

Sorry Tonisfriend about your loss - there are no right or wrong ways to grieve - do what works for you and be kind to yourself.

Hmmm yougov - havent heard from them for ages - and Im over 3000 points I think - might need find out whats happened there.

Anyway have a good day everyone - Love LAGL xx
