  • NSD no.4 for me today, I have to wait in for replacement bed panels, BF kneeled on the bed the other day and we heard a crack. Expecting the delivery today, I have to leave for work at 1:30 so hopefully they will arrive before then. We've been sleeping on the mattress on the floor, luckily it's a nice thick mattress so still comfy.
Today I shall be getting on with crafty xmas presents. I started BFs bleach t-shirts yesterday and I am very impressed by how simple it was, and how good they look. They needed a cold rinse this morning so they are now drying (I'll hide them in the cupboard later) and then they will need a quick cycle thru the WM.
I have also started on my friend 'Round tuit', and while the glue is drying I'm going to carry on with bro's blanket.
It needs 3 more yellow squares, 30 more black squares, and 305!! green squares.

x_raphael - that blanket sounds like your life's work.

Today should be a NSD. I have so much to do I feel a bit overwhelmed. DD is back at school today and feeling much better. I have already cycled this morning in glorious sunshine. The beds are all stripped and one load in the machine, I will peg some out and see if they dry. I need to remake the beds, walk the dog, vacuum downstairs, visit mum, do some ironing, do the school runs, do some work filing, change the tablecloth. These are the essentials but there are loads of other things which may need to wait.

Right, coffee is finished and I need to get cracking.

    Hello,

today will be another NSD. I took beef, pork and lamb mince out of the freezer (into the fridge) and chicken. The chicken will be cut up, marinated and frozen again for a quick dinner/stir fry in the week. The mince will be turned into bolognese/chilli base, and various meatballs that I'll precook as we'd like to start trying to eat earlier and with the kids. Sth we only do Fri to Sun atm. Just have to find out how to best stretch the mince for meatballs. To my bolognese I usually add red lentils and other veg, but not sure about meatballs. Any suggestions? I read somewhere oats or beans. I usually add some breadcrumbs especially to fatty lamb mince.

    Thanks

I've been Money Tipped! Debt-free and Proud!
    Afternoon All :)

Thrifty- how about really finely dicing some veggies and adding them into the meatballs? Or like you say, add some beans or maybe chickpeas (depending on what you have)?

Calling14- i prefer jeggings over skinny jeans, much more comfy and i find them to be more flattering too!

So, today i got a £21 voucher through the post from my Utility Provider. I get a discount for being a dual fuel customer. You can chose to spend the voucher in a few different places, and i chose Amazon. So I'll buy a £20 Amazon gift card with it, and give it to my sister as the last part of her Christmas present. So now i only have my 2 children to buy for.

I budgeted and saved £500 for the total for Christmas, I've spent £50 already (on my mum and my sister), and my older son will get £100 and my younger son wants a phone (I'll try and find a new one for around £100) so i'll still have £250 left. Should be plenty of stocking fillers, a few bits of extra food etc :)

Today was a planned spend day. Spent my 1st week petrol money. It half filled the tank, but i don't think i have anywhere to go that i cant drive to. So that's all good.

Spent £28 on food (fresh fruit an veg mainly, as well as fish for my older son). Which leaves me with £22 if i need anything else during the week.

I'm sticking to my meal plan most of the time. The only exception is my older son. He generally only likes eating fish (smoked haddock), broccoli and spicy noodles. He gives me some money from his PIP every month to cover the extortionate fish costs ;)
  • Hi all,

Today is a spend day - pre planned cheap meal out at our local with some girlfriends tonight and two birthday cards needed posting so had to get stamps. Picked up some fresh groceries as it was a spend day anyway which means I don't have to go out tomorrow and can get on with some batch cooked curry, pumpkin soup and cheese scones. Need to get some planting and transplanting done in the veg plot tomorrow too. Spinach needs moving around and the broad beans need to go in! Trying to keep as much as possible growing over the winter months but new to this so its a bit of a learning curve! Can I count gardening as exercise???

    Love to all,
    LAGL xx

    Hi all

Well after my dismal day yesterday (money wise, but not in terms of enjoyment!) I have been a very sober and strait SSG today. Porridge from stores in work for breakfast and lunch brought in. It's one of my 5:2 diet days today (eggs, apple and soup) so even my body will be taking the Spartan route!:A

Nothing to buy today so a nice NSD. Tomorrow is also looking good!:j

Can I count gardening as exercise???

Of course. Not everybody is able to or wants to do spin classes or run etc. Anything that gets us of the couch and is beyond the normal activities is exercise. I've actually been quite sore after gardening myself so it definitely counts.

I'm pretty new to gardening too. This year was my experiment year where I tried out lots of different veg etc. Atm my garden is bare. The future potato patch had cuttings and other plant waste dug in to rejuvenate for next year. And next year's veg patch is growing some straggly runner beans and green manure as I totally depleted the nutrients by growing potatoes 3!! years in a row (told you, novice, now I know better ;))

    WanttobeSE totally agree jeggings rule.

Collected my 90 and put 56 towards my cc debt. Annoying me I have managed to run it up.
Got my sandwich box with brandy in it, donated by my boss twds my xmas cake feeding. Saved me 7 pounds buying it.
Can't be bothered taking my jeans back today, don't want to waste fuel either. So will lose my SFD to milk SFD 2/4
