I pay for parking at my work (hospital) and am issued with a staff permit. I was visiting the hospital with my daughter a couple of weeks ago so parked in the visitors spaces - and got a ticket. I appealed (well, I wrote a letter for them to ignore) and of course they denied it.
What point do I use the POPLA appeal on? I know that I can appeal on signage as there are no signs coming into the car park, nor around the car park advising what will happen to those who hold a staff permit, parking in a visitor's bay
I dont have an appointment letter I can send as it was for an urgent MRI scan, all organised by telephone. My daughter has now been diagnosed with cancer so there will be lots more appointments for me to attend, and to be honest I cant be dealing with the stress of these arguments on top of her illness.
Thanks

Contact PALS at the hospital as they can get these sorted. They will be able to confirm the visit. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Did you give away who was driving in the first appeal?

Hi
Yes, they know I am the driver as I was using the fact I was a staff member but not working at the time. They have used a staff car being parked in a visitors space as the contravention.
I have taken photos of the car park entrance as there are no signs saying what the cost will be, in fact there are no signs what so ever (its a pay on exit with barrier entrance). Do you think this is the route I should go down?
I have emailed PALS and the Chief Exec to see if they can lend some weight, I guess I foolishly thought that because I had an appointment and I wasnt working, that it would be fine. Should have known I would have a fight on my hands with these sharks.0 -

And have a look at the template appeal points set out in September postings in POPLA Decisions (the top thread). Don't start reading it from the start! Old POPLA stuff is history. You can find some template POPLA points (LONG ONES!) I posted about one month ago there.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

now I might get shot down , but this is the way I see it
for years staff at hospitals have begged for their own designated parking area for staff only , often with permits and a cost , partly due to "management" of that car park
visitors are just that , and have to pay for parking on a visitors car park.
by using the visitors car park (you admit not in the line of work) you should have paid the charge for this car park !
non of this bull , staff car park was full Mr PALS / Mr UKPC , you were a VISITOR and chose to use this car park as a visitor
next time to use the "shield" of the staff parking , use the staff car parkSave a Rachael

I didnt use my staff pass to get into the car park, as at that time I was a visitor not a member of staff. The car park is shared, with two levels for visitors, and two for staff. There are no signs on the entry to the car park warning of any penalties which is what Im hoping I can appeal on. I shall have a look at the POPLA appeal process now - thanks for the direct
I have the photos on the PC but not sure how to upload?0 -

Upload redacted images to a web hosting site (not in your real name) such as tinypic or photobucket, then post the URL here but change http to hxxp. Someone here will then change them back to a live link.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister. All my screwdrivers are cordless."You're Safety Is My Primary Concern Dear" - Laks0 -

I parked on the visitors level as I was an accompanying parent for my daughter, not a staff member at that time. I was not working, I was there for an appointment. And as I said earlier, I did not use my pass to enter the car park. I didnt expect a ticket when Im not there for work. The permits we are issued with are affixed to the windscreen otherwise I would have just removed this from view. But if I dont use the permit when parking for work, I would also get a ticket.
