I used to make something that I called a Generation Box. I covered a box and then put a book inside with around 100 questions. ie, what was the name of your favourite teacher, who was your first boy(girl)friend, what is your favourite colour? etc. I then placed this card inside the box on top of the book and questions:A LIFETIME OF MEMORIES
Within this box there is a bookAnd lots of questions for you to take a lookSo take the time to go way back whenAnd think of all the good things thenAs you remember, write each one downYou will laugh, cry or even frownHere’s hoping that on this trip you’ll findLots of lovely memories of the lasting kind
I then gave it to whoevers birthday it was. I just thought it would be nice for them to think about things gone by and in the present and for them to write down for future generations. Even if they didn't want to write anything down, it took them back down memory lane.
Sorry not sure how to put photos on here, otherwise would share a few of my masterpieces!!:rotfl:When you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying! :rotfl:0 -
Hi all,
I have just found this thread and I'm hoping that someone out there will be able to help me!!
My mum in law has told me about some felt puches she used to make and put a teabag in them with a verse stuck to the front. The verse said something about whilst not being together, use the teabag to sit down and anjoy a cuppa together. I may not have explained that very well!! Anyway she can remember how to make the pouches but can't remember the verse and has lost the piece of paper she had it written down on!
Does anyone out there know the verse or can anyone make one up for me (I'm rubbish at verses!!). I am wanting to make a batch of them to sell at a up coming Macmillan coffee morning my work are holding, all proceeds will go to Macmillan so if anyone can help me I would be very very grateful and also it will mean my mum in law can stop trying to think of the verse!!
Thanks

Think this is what you're after
There are many miles between us
for me to get to you
So I'm sending you a tea bag
and this will have to do
So make your self a cup of tea
When you drink it I'll think of you
And think of us together
Sharing a cup of tea
________________________
I cannot sit and chat with you
The way I'd like to do
So make yourself a cup of tea
I'll think of you -you think of me
_______________________
When you're feeling sad and blue
And have no clue just what to do
Sit down and have a cup of tea
Give yourself a hug or two...or three
Feel those trouble melt away
And start you on a better day
_________________________
Although the miles divide us
It's easier to be
Together in our thinking
As we have a cup of tea
So lets both put the kettle on
And make ourselves a brew
And while you drink and think of me
I'll drink and think of you

This is an idea for a Christmas one
1 tea-cup and saucer, 1 tea bag, teaspoon, individual shortbread or biscuit
Wrap in cellophane and tie with ribbon and add this:
''On Christmas Day at half past three
Pour yourself a cup of tea
I'll think of you, you think of me
Sitting round the Christmas tree''
Hope that helps............:)I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Mary Op Thank you so so much!! I will use some (or all!) the verses!! And more importantly I'll make my mum in law a new copy of the poem so she doesn't lose it again!!
Thank you again - best get making the pouches for the tea bags now!

I got this as a gift from nursery, and it made me cry.
my daughters handprint on paper with the poem next to it. It was such a lovely thought, I wanted to share. Not sure how suitable it is for christmas, but any mummy, gran, daddy will love it.Sometimes you get discouraged
Because I am so small
And always leave my fingerprints
On furniture and walls
But every day I'm growing --
I'll be grown some day
And all those tiny handprints
Will surely fade away
So here's a little handprint
Just so you can recall
Exactly how my fingers looked
When I was very small
Age of your child, and love from .............. xxxSaving 2.00 coinsGrocerys set to 40.00 pwBeing Thrifty0
