I did this one for my son's 40th this year - did him a 'survival kit' and put a little card listing the contents and what they represented plus this.Could be adapted for other occassions
Now you’ve reached the age of 40
- I’ve done this for you
An ‘Everyday Survival Kit’
to help to see you through
In case you get those dark days
when things just don’t seem right
To remind you - at the end of each tunnel.
There’s always a light
So if you’re feeling gloomy ,or just a little sad
You’ll look at all these things
and know that life aint all that bad !

Dont know if this would be any use to anyone...........I put it in baby grandsons 1st birthday card

'Little Boy kneels at the foot of the bed,
Such tiny hands, golden hair on his head
Hush! Hush! Whisper who dares!
Curtis Patrick is saying his prayers.

‘’God bless Mummy. I know that's right.
Wasn't it fun in the bath tonight?
The cold's so cold, and the hot's so hot.
Oh! God bless Daddy - I nearly forgot.!

If I open my fingers a little bit more,
I can see the light shining through the door.
God Bless my Grandads…..and Cara and Dan
I mustn’t forget -God Bless both my Nans

Oh! Thank you, God, for a lovely day.
And what was the other I had to say?
I said "Bless Daddy," so what can it be?
Oh! Now I remember it. God bless Me.’’

for all of you who are making pots of gold this year, try this link; http://familycrafts.about.com/library/projects/blstprpotgfbox.htm
its a free template for a st patricks day box with a pot of gold on the front, i figure you could cut off the top flap where it says st patricks day and wrap in cellophane and the bottom won't show. hope this is useful for someone!
I want a perfect body, I want a perfect soul, I want you to notice when I'm not around

Just done my pot of gold (not put the gold in yet.............lol)
Used an empty gravy granule tub, covered it with images of gold coins and put an image of a gold pot and coins on the lid. Finished off with gold ribbon.

Washer & Dryer Gag Gift Idea

This Christmas our ship has finally come in
We’re feeling so wealthy and rich.
Instead of some small remembrance
This year will be quite a switch.

We’re giving a gift of high quality
No more cheap presents for us.
It’s time we really went all out
But don’t worry, it’s really no fuss.

We considered giving you a sports car
Or maybe a tropical cruise ---
But we decided to be more practical
And give something you really could use.

So, open the box and you may be surprised,
To find not only one gift, but TWO ---
We hope you will put your presents to work
It’s a WASHER & DRYER, too!
Author Unknown

Gift: Place this poem on a neatly wrapped dishtowel & dishrag set.

Toilet roll (wrapped up with ribbon on top -I put a little face on mine)

I bought this little gift for you
I thought it was unique
I bet you can't guess what it is
So trendy and so chic
You'll never get caught short again
Now that you have this chum
He's charmin' and he's funny
And he'll help you wipe your ***

Found this one I got from this board somewhere: adapted it for my friend

If you need me I'll be around
I'll hold your page,not make a sound
I'll pause your story when you leave
And wait till you decide to read.

A horror book might scare me
I'm quite fragile you see
But I don't mind a good love story
Or 'Who dun it' - a mystery

As time goes on, it's with regret
Getting older -the page you might forget
But I'll be here, & like your best friend
I'll make sure you know your story's end.

friendship box

A box is beautifully and individually wrapped, tied with ribbons and has a crystal heart attached to it. It comes with the following verse (which is printed and laminated) attached to the outside:-

This is a Box of Friendship
It’s sent with love to show
Our friendship means the world to me
More than you’ll ever know.
So even if we’re far apart
Or haven’t spoken for a while
This will remind you I think of you often
And always with a smile.
There is no need to unwrap it
But if you’re feeling blue
Just hold this box close to your heart
Because it’s filled with love for you.

So in theory the recipient is not supposed to open the gift as it is filled with love. However, it is human nature to want to know what is inside, so, if they do open the box, this is what they will find...

There are some little gemstones, Aventurine, Rose Quartz, Blue Lace Agate, a little confetti angel and tiny dove and some confetti hearts and stars. The following verse (printed and laminated) is also included:-

So curiosity got the better of you!
You had to peek inside
Wondering what surprises
This little box may hide.
There is Aventurine to bring you luck
Rose Quartz to bring you love
Blue Lace Agate to bring you happiness
And to bring you peace, a tiny dove.
These little gifts I give to you
Because I really wanted to say
I’m so very grateful for our friendship
And I treasure it every day.

I would love to make this for my friends birthday but where on earth would I get the items from needed to put in the box.

Many thanks

• I have found a poem for the Guinness Flannel Glass

Pint Glass Poem

Our lager
Which art in barrels
Hallowed be thy drink
Thy will be drunk
At home as in the tavern
Give us this day our foamy head
And forgive us our spillages
And forgive those who spill against us
And lead us not to incarceration
But deliver us from hangovers
For thine is the beer
The bitter and the lager
For ever and ever
Barman.
