Motorists, what to do about cyclists who constantly break the high way code???

Yesterday, on my morning commute, I actually saw a woman cyclist (no helmet) riding along a very busy road in London whilst texting on her phone!
I kept up with her all the way to work, taking in a major (and dangerous) yellow box junction, 4 sets of lights, and the horror that is Greenwich one-way system. She was fiddling with her bloody phone for much of the journey. Talk about a death-wish!trinidadone wrote: »I have been watching the programme on London channel, called route masters. A part of the programme, featured a task force in the metropolitan police - two officers with these cameras mounted on their cycle helmets. The programme covered, according to them a hotspot for cyclists not observing red lights, an area called the Elephant & Castle. these police officers pulled cyclists over and fined each of them £30.00. Any moterist know how much moter vehicles are fined, or awarded points if moterist went through these same red lights?
There was one cyclist who told the offiers he has had many fines for breaking red lights, which questions weather the enforcement is enough of a penalty???
Ah, the very unlovely Elephant and Castle, a roundabout which has been completely redesigned to meet the needs of cyclists. No matter that there have been pedestrian deaths, no matter that the pollution is through the roof, no matter that all traffic is now delayed by ever-longer jams, the cyclists now have lovely new blue lanes on which to pedal. Which doesn't stop them using the pavement or the rest of the road, obviously. It's a complete disaster for the area, and one which cost millions. Thanks a bunch TfL."I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0 -

Near the old street roundabout (london) there is a section which is traffic light controlled with bikes and moto vehicles. It's part of the cycle superhigheway. In order for the cyclists to be able to turn right safely the traffic is filtered.
Cyclists were meant to be stopped (red light), but one cyclist decided to be an arrogant idiot (non helmet wear) and just beat his red. A motorbike decided to deliberately ram into the bicyclists rear wheel. Warping it and making it bent out of shape, which means the cyclist will probably need to carry his bike home.
It was a pretty deliberate ramming and the motorcyclist taunted the pushbike to look at the traffic lights and then just sped off.
Hello Seatbeltnoob, thank you for your contribution, I do not agree that every car owner wishes to damage a cyclist bike in any way, shape or form. The cyclist should not of gone through the red light, but nor should s/he be subjected to a ram from a motorbike. I also do not agree with the taunting, i think most motorist would prefer all road users to simply follow the rules of the road.Trinidad - I have a number of needs. ouch, in the program last night, a van driver said "motorist get angry with cyclists because they are able to break the rules of the road and get away with it, which motorists are penalized for" I think there is some truth in that!!!Trinidad - I have a number of needs. Speak for yourself - most of us who drive do not suffer from psychopathic tendencies.0 -

Cyclists only kill one third as many people as a result of this type of law breaking so their fine is only a third.......seems fair to me
This is complete nonsense as I have proven. There were 1 or 2 cycle deaths, full stop every year, not 1/3 as manySam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Shall we have the debate about different types of passing a red light now, folks?I need to think of something new here...0 -

Most drivers don't know what the rules of the road actually are, many have their own "my way code" and this makes for a very dangerous situation for cyclists.
Some think filtering is illegal.
Some think cyclists MUST always ride inches from the kerb.
Some think it's illegal for cyclists to ride two-abreast.
Some think it's illegal for a faster cyclist to overtake another cyclist.
Some think it's illegal to not wear a helmet.
Some think that cyclists wearing bright colours think they're better that everyone else.
Some think that cyclists should not wear dark clothing.
Some think cyclists should use bells.
Some think that a cyclist using a bell is being aggressive.
Some think you can't overtake on hatch markings.
Some think overtaking is aggressive and anti-social
Some think that if one lane of dual carriage way is backed up with traffic, that everyone else must form a queue in that lane and ignore the open lane.
Some think you should change lanes 2 miles before your intended turn/junction.
Some think that vehicles on the road must obey a hierarchy, bigger more expensive vehicles have priority of smaller/cheaper vehicles.
Not all applying to cyclists, but the list really does go on and on.
A lot of conflicting points and a lot of things which drivers will try to enforce by using their car as a weapon. You cannot win, you cannot keep everyone happy, do one thing right and someone else wants to murder you for it.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

That motorcyclist should be prosecuted for dangerous driving (riding?) at the very least.
It doesn't matter how bad the behavior of the cyclist is, no other road user has the right to deliberately ram a bicycle.
He could have caused serious injury or even death, and not just to the cyclist.
Surely even the most 'anti cyclists' posters on here would agree with that.0
