They've charged me for early termination. Despite me spending over an hour talking to their team they apparently did NOT put any notes on my system and just terminated my account meaning I was billed in full incorrectly.

In my experience their system doesn't allow them to waive the early termination charge up front, they have to do it retrospectively. I don't think they are alone in this.

They say you have to contact them within 30 days to tell them you are leaving because of the price increase, but you never want to actually cancel a phone/broadband account as it incurs extra costs that they don't have to waive & you'll lose your phone number. All you are doing is phoning them to let them know that your new provider is going to be in contact and you want to make sure that they aren't going to try to charge you an early termination fee for transferring. I had hoped they would tick the "no early termination fee" box, but it appears they didn't pay their developers for that one. I half expected they wouldn't, I do think they should be upfront and tell you that because of their system you'll need to phone back.

They sent me two letters on the same day telling me that they were going to charge me an early termination charge. So I phoned up on the day of the switch and they tried to get me to stay. Even though I told them the provider I was moving to was cheaper than their best offer, they still tried to sell me a more expensive one. I said I was offended that they would charge me when they said they wouldn't and then try to convince me to sign up to a more expensive service when I phoned to complain about their mistake. I didn't have to resort to switching out of principle as it was cheaper (if you received up front cashback then switching away and getting another set of cashback is almost certainly going to be cheaper). Although I don't include the cost of my time phoning, or it wouldn't be worth switching providers ever.

One thing to watch out for, they don't automatically refund any credit balance (like if you pre-pay your line rental up front). You have to request that yourself, you can do this by logging into your online account or phoning them up. Originally I was told I'd need to do it by phone, I haven't actually received it yet though.

This was the first time where I was without broadband as the phone line switched a day before the broadband did. Previously my broadband has been switched and then a few days later the phone line is switched. I expect this is something to do with the new rules on line rental + broadband, whenever industry watchdogs interfere it always gives us a worse experience. I think this was my new providers fault & I although I opted for no router, they only told me my broadband username and omitted the password. I had to resort to doing a "I forgot my password" on my mobile.
  • Latest bill has arrived with £85 termination charge ! And it's only 2 days since my 'complaints manager' range me to assure me that there would be no termination charge and could she close my complaint ? I am glad that I said no. And they still owe me £14+ in advance line rental charges for the period after I had moved.
If anybody else is moving or has left --> I suggest that you check your bills very very carefully !

I think those customers still with TT after last year's fiasco aren't the sort of people who worry about such matters.
