I would like to know how TT justify charging an extra £5 per month - for 76Mbps fibre rather than 38Mbps ?
Extra Electricity - not !!0 -

Most likely a reflection of the charge by Openreach.
My Internet access goes right black to the time when the two most feared words were Phone and Bill. To cut a long story short, BT brought out fibre broadband which was followed by faster fibre and then we got Option 1 and Option 2. That was hotly followed by other ISPs. Basically it came about due to improvements in the phone lines between the home and the exchange which cost money which was to be recovered from the customer. But I always wonder about that bit because I don't recall the phone lines being worked on.0 -
My first bill has arrived today since accepting their retention deal.
The remaining value line rental has been refunded and they have also added a £25 welcome bonus credit to my account.
I have added the faster boost to my package but the speed increase is not great, I was getting a speed of between 23Mps and 29Mps on the medium fibre and am now getting a steadier speed of 38Mps (obviously upload speeds are much better than on my previous package).0 -
I moved to TalkTalk a few months back and last week got an email to say they were upping the cost of my package. The email was very confusing and looked like it was going up by a whopping £15 a month.
It took almost an hour to confirm via chat that that the contract I am in allows them to increase prices during the contracted period.
I had to really push the advisor to get a figure of what my bill was going up by and he stated £2.50.
I asked why the email stated otherwise to be told it was generic email and to ignore it.
I was promised it would be confirmed by email but I still have not had a confirmation.
It looks like they are trying to scare customers into recontracting for 18 month but the new price is nowhere as high as the figures mentioned in the email.
Anyone else had this?0 -

I was hoping someone could clarify the 30-day rule.
I received the notification about price change on 12.October.
My prices will change from 15.November.
I transferred from sky to talktalk on 11.December.2015.
My current talktalk contract expires on 11.June.2017.
To get any of the sky "new customer" deals, you have to have not been a sky customer for over 12 months. New customer deals (with quidco/tcb) _always_ beat even the best retention deal.
To escape without paying the termination fee do I have to actually leave talktalk before 12.November (line transferred etc)? Or only have notified them of my wish to leave? (Then I can leave penalty free at a later point)
In the ideal case I would stay with talktalk until at least 11.december (I would happily pay the increased rate for a month or so). Then transfer to another provider before my original 18 month contract expires, but without paying the early termination fee.
Is this possible?
Thanks
Hi,
I called talktalk today. Because the price is increasing for me, I can leave my contract early without penalty. Until my line is actually taken over by a new provider, I will continue to be billed (at the new higher rate).
My line rental is currently 1/2 price so it will increase from £8.85/month to £9.46/month.
The broadband package is free, so it will continue to be free.
From 11.December my 1/2 price discount will end so I will be paying £18.95.
I can now leave penalty free when I find a good deal; probably back to sky as a new customer.
So, I would suggest that anyone who is affected by the price rise calls talktalk to get the disconnection fee removed. Then you can leave penalty free in the future if you spot a good deal.
It took me about 20 minutes on the phone. I was offered the new fixed price plans at a discount of 20p per month for my loyalty; but I declined.0 -

Hi Abbie - I think it would be useful for you to state Talktalk's policy on exit penalties for people who wish to transfer to other providers as a consequence of these price rises.
There seem to be differing answers coming from your call centre colleagues (though I appreciate that the response is related to the exact circumstances of each customer).0 -

I have messed about with the telephone wiring in my house (filter plate and disconnected the bell wire) and am now getting a wired speed of 62Mbps and a WiFi speed of 49Mbps.
Just a point for anyone with the TalkTalk Super Router, both of the WiFi bands it broadcasts use the same name, I found the 5Ghz band to be a lot faster but my devices would always automatically connect to the slower 2.4Ghz band.
If you log in to the router and change the name of the 5Ghz band it will then show up separately as a WiFi access point for you to connect to.Cashback earned
Quidco : £858
Pigsback : £20 and a Beatles CD.0 -
Yes, I initially received a message saying there might be exit penalties for moving unless I contacted TT. So I have tried to speak to them and am getting the runaround - one agent said 'I am not saying that we will charge you the exit penalties but I cannot change your account', another told me to speak to my new provider....I cannot get a straight answer from them. I thought that terms are clear - they cannot charge the exit penalty if I move due to the price increase. This feels quite intimidating so I have complained formally. No response yet but another letter arrived in the post, threatening the exit charge of £85 yet again.0

Talktalk have done it again. More incompetency on their part!
Today's final bill from talktalk after giving 30 days notice penalty free due to price hikes is not £28 it's over £300!!
They've charged me for early termination. Despite me spending over an hour talking to their team they apparently did NOT put any notes on my system and just terminated my account meaning I was billed in full incorrectly.
This is just a prime example of why I'm leaving talktalk. They just can't get it right. It's always me chasing them for their mistakes at my expense.
Their retentions team called me when I left and offered me a good deal. I refused purely down to the incredibly poor service of their customer service team. They could give me 12 months free broadband and I'd still have left.
Their call centres are staffed by people who call me Mr (first name) and clearly do not understand what I am saying. They can't get my requests handled without lengthy stressful calls - all at my own expense, and nobody takes ownership of problems.
It's just taken me 30 minutes now to get the bill above corrected. At first they refused. I quoted the law to them and stated I'd take action and suddenly my bill has gone from over £300 to £1.28!!
If this was my elderly mother or someone they'd have paid the expensive overcharged bill without realising.
Talktalk in my view are full on cowboys staffed by incompetent people who provide a very poor service. A complete nightmare of a company.
I'm glad I escaped when I did. Good luck to those of you who are staying aboard this sinking ship.0
