rather than start a new northern rock thread, and sure it has been asked...
I've currently got an ISA with them ( only £3000 ) should i just leave it til it matures next april and then move it elsewhere, or is it best to just cash it up and put it in a taxable savings account ?0 -

im not bothered about losing money as only looking at about £3k investment. Just wanted to know if i get an offer price can i hold on to them or do i have to sel!?
May I suggest if you dont know what your doing then dont do it, if you want advice how to invest pay a financial advisor instead of opening up a spread bet account. If your buying shares its by your own metrics and your own risk.
People see far too much in to volume of shares trading etc. Deutse bank bought a load, people speculating it might be a precursor 2 bid but no it was just a trading position to make money from the spinning of headless chickens through their algorithmically calculated cycles. Over 20% of the NR shares are borrowed at teh moment ie sold short, large buybacks at lower prices are the cause of the downshifting price. This is called making money bear stylely, rar! watch out for the bear attack.
A 35 million trade forcing prices up induces fools to buy, then they can bear trap you sell and then sell more short and the lowered price makes others sell. Alliance and leicester acted quickly to try and stop the bear trap , rar! watch out for those grizzlys and some other astute investors "believed" by their metrics that a+l was safe and prevented the lower price kicking off the fire storm.
Rar watch out for those bears, I said at the start of this foley that this is a big boys game now, id leave well alone till all this crazyness is over and then choose whether its worth investing. Dont make snap judgements, by all means punt if you want to though at a price you believe in.
Im satisfied that the turmoil ie money markets are quelled and thus going to be with a+l (not that their was a prob with them anyway as things transcribed) on the next trace down which may be tomorow, maybe tuesday or may never happen. But more importantly ive done my research and on my head be it if it goes wrong I cant blame any one else. I dont normally bother with something unless i believe by my measurements its under valued by more then twice or I expect super rapid growth, but thats a slower way to make money as it takes a while for the city slickers to catch on to the stars, plus they mainly invest on gradients over a short period rather then growth. The swings on A+L though have interested me will keep you informed as to if it works or not.
 happy hunting

but remember on occasions everything goes out the window NRK is a example of this, as with everything "past performance is no guarentee of future" having a feel for the sentiment (eg bear on banbks been shot bull is out again) and news is also useful. It comes down to the pair of scales in your head.0 -

There are quite a few million+ trades, the £35m deal was at 14:34:22 by Deutsche Bank (look in the time column)0 -
These shares are heading for 200p,the price which the rumours say that HBOS or HSBC MIGHT be willing to pay.
NR is a lame duck and will soon be like the dodo.
200p here we come
you read it here first.0 -
no-one should be asking anyone else here if they should buy or sell. I for one will not be giving any answers. This is not a share advice forum.
Everyone should weigh up their own risk profile and take a considered approach. Sometimes the best trade is no trade0
