It's so tricky Popps when people get married abroad - especially if hen do is abroad as well! I had two one here and one in SA and then just a party after the wedding for people here. 12 bridesmaids wow! I had my sisters and OH's sister and got there dresses on Asos... wouldn't want to be buying 12 bridesmaid dresses hahah - we also did away with a lot of traditions mainly because tbh I didn't know about them - it was great saved me money! Yea I need to get the invites out for her hen do ASAP! I think it will be lovely and chilled she is not a big drinker due to her illness and as her fiances sister will need somewhere to stay we are hiring them a room at the pub as well to share. It will mean if her Cf is bad she can pop next door and have a lie down for a min.

Good day yesterday - bus in £2.80 because had driving lesson day before so bike was still at work but cycled home, got a puncture but was nearly home so walked the last bit and sorted it in the warm. Was the first time I have changed it myself so quite glad I got to practice when nobody was watching as I would have looked a quite a wolly trying to work out how to get the breaks off! New bike light arrived (Christmas money) its immense and so bright! Did yoga on my lunch break and short work out at home with weights in evening followed by a lovely Iceland burger and salad for dinner. OH went to football so I got to relax watching what I wanted and then made some tuna pasta with salad for my lunch today. Good job I always make too much as OH decided to help himself once I went to bed.

  • Sounds like you had a very productive day yesterday. Also, I don't know how to take a tyre on a bike so you get double the praise.

    Keep up the good work.

I read your comment just before I left work yesterday speky and then went down to get my bike and the tyre was flat again haha ... Not as big a pro as I thought! Tried to patch it up again but half way home it was totally flat so 10 min walk in the dark to get to the road so OH could pick me up... Just gonna put new inner tyre in.. luckily they are cheap but it teaches me for being cocky!
Had sis and her oh over last night playing cards against humanity which was fun but far too much wine was drunk and I am feeling a tad delicate today. Met some family friends for lunch at the pub and then went to a restorative yoga workshop which was two hours of lying down in different positions... Immense! Feeling chilled and very proud that me and OH reached for the Iceland frozen curry instead of take out tonight courtesy of honey's brilliant suggestion! Previously we would have automatically gone on just eat! Hope everyone's having a good weekend

  • It seems whenever a flat tyre is mentioned, someone gets one! Good for you though having an idea on how to fix it.

Is 'restorative yoga' a thing, like an actual kind of yoga? I really like the sound of it. Finding a yoga class this year is on my list of goals, lying around for 2 hours sounds like bliss :p

It sounds like the talk you had with your OH may have sunk in, it must be such a relief. I found that things that didn't mean going out (downgrading from name brand to basic brand) went down fairly easily, it was the actual doing without some toy that he wanted that hub rebelled against. Once the electricity thing happened though he was completely on board.

I hope you have fully recovered from the wine! xx

This is such a good suggestion, I wonder if I can get my mum on board with it. I do always tend to have pizza and frozen chips in, in case I get a fussy young person placed with me (fingers crossed I've never had a vegan yet, they'd have to have lentils!) but I'm thinking of expanding the selection for those nights I really want something naughty!

I'm seriously impressed that you had a really good stab at mending the puncture, Jvr, even if the inner tube was so knackered that you had to replace it. Next time around you'll know what to do and it'll be fine.

I'm also really glad your OH is happy to reach for a frozen fakeaway. As far as I'm concerned freezers are there to cut grocery bills, and if putting supermarket versions of curries and pizza means you don't reach for the phone and order wickedly expensive takeaways, it's doing it's job.
    Better is good enough.

Thanks for all your messages! Crazy day today... I can't remember if I said anything but a few weeks ago a family friends daughter moved in with my mum. (Back story her mum lived with us briefly when she came as a refugee about 12 years ago) they had a big fight and this girl was basically trying to cope with a levels and doing housework and childcare for her four younger brothers and just broke under pressure and her mum sort of chucked her out so she came to my mum's. She is 17 and an absolute angel. Then this morning her 15 year old brother turned up having walked about 10 miles saying had been thrown out. We don't know what happened but obviously social services will be involved as so young. My mum bless her has cleared out a room enough to fit in bed for now and I cleared out my spare room so my older sister who is in town for hospital appointment and suffers from chronic fatigue can stay. It's a nightmare to say the least and will prob need to send my mum some money to help a little bit until she knows what's happening what help will get. Feel pretty stressed but also proud of my awesome mother
Will reply when get a chance about my less than MSE weekend! Not terrible but could do better haha

Misty ... It was a yoga workshop and a lot of places do them in addition to normal classes ... It seriously is just lying in different opening positions and you almost go into a trance. I cannnot recommend it enough! Just giving yourself that time to relax and have nothing else to do as your not at home feeling should go do this or that!
Popps ... Def try it we had frozen curry and those microwave uncle Ben's rice and it felt like a treat and no effort costing us nothing compared to a takeaway! But if honey had never suggested it, I would never have thought of keeping some in for those occasions!
Thanks honey I am quite proud of myself bike all sorted with new inner tyre ready for tomorrow and my dad has picked up the other one as he says he can mend it ready to be a spare!

  • A very kind gesture from your mum there. And yourself for clearing space to fit in sis. Also I'm a huge advocate of yoga and I completely agree about going into a trance and just switching off from the stress that life can bring.

Good on your mother and you for taking in people who need somewhere safe to stay while things settle down. Thank goodness both youngsters knew they'd be okay with your mother.

Can you ask your father how he fixed the inner tube so that you know for next time? Or even better, ask him to show you. That way if there was a step you inadvertently skipped the first time around you'll know.
