  • £2 a day here in Belfast for primary level - but the portions aren't great - ds1 refused to have them as he was still hungry. I can pack lunches for a lot less than £20 a week for the two of them

Weekly menus sent home for Junior School so that you can help them to choose... Hot menus consist of 1 meat option, 1 vegetarian option and 1 salad option + side order + 1 homemade cake/portion of fruit salad/yougurt. Filled rolls also available - but if they want a sandwich for lunch then they take it in with them!

    Chips only on a Friday!!!

tbh I think this is quite good value and there is a great variety of meals (on a 5 week rotation) Although neither of our little people have chosen a full week of hot lunches - yet...

I'm a dinner lady in hampshire and school dinners here are £1.80 per day. Te kids gat a varied menu, and at least 2 portions of fruit and/or veg per meal. having said that sometimes the food is very uninspiring, although it is balanced. I give my 2 packed lunches as it is cheaper, but they do have school dinners for a treat sometimes as they enjoy them.

The most popular days for school dinners at my school is tuesdays (pizza) wednesdays (roast) and fridays (chips!)

£1.50 a day for primary schools here (yorkshire). It is slightly more expensive for secondary schools. The menus are on a 3 week rota and changed twice a year and you get a menu planner sent home, which I've pinned up so I always know what's been on offer that day. Jacket potatoes, wraps on offer every day as is salad bar.

£1.55 here in Aberdeen. My DS is very fussy but going to school dinners and eating with other children is helping a lot so much more willing to do that than packed lunches.

I found it cheaper paying for school dinners for DD when she was in primary school than I do now she is having packed lunches in comp. Now I seem to spend half my life nipping to the shops just to get some bread etc for the lunch box and coming back with a bag (or 2) full of impulse buys.
