  • Can someone tell me how i convince my oh not too spend 7-8 quid everytime we go shopping every other week. She always buys an expensive conditioner and shampoo, whereas i get a pack of 20 cheap disposable razors 1.50 and the cheapest on offer shaving foam or gel.

We'd welcome her with open arms on here. can you suggest separate budgets for toiletries? I buy my shampoo etc ot of my account not a joint account.

  • Houseplant : We have just recently after 11 years of being together just started getting sorted re money. Where basically we split paying for everything household related, before it was very well you pay for this and i will pay for this re household stuff and everything, we have spent years arguing over money.

I think houseplant's idea could be a good one. You both buy your own toiletry items unless they're shared items. That way she can spend what she likes on her items and you on yours. She obviously doesn't have any qualms spending so much on shampoo on conditioner so shouldn't mind it coming out of her own money.

Huskyrunner - up until recently i thought nothing of spending 30-40 sometimes more a week on Lush kitchen orders. Its addictive. Im having to think before i order now because of problems with my job but its definitely addictive, made me happy though so it was worth it. Some people spend that on cigarettes, alchohol, meals out etc. Depends whether you can afford it i think. I was never in debt, never had meals out, didnt drink, smoke etc so it was my thing that made me happy. Baths help with my pain levels which is how i originally got into using lush products.

I have always put toiletries under personal spends money unless it is a basic shared item like hand soap. Otherwise it is not really fair for one person to be spending the household budget on luxury toiletries for their own use.

I think that these will be my last UUs for October, I am always optimistic with my PP list, seeing items in use on there helps keep me focused and deterred from opening anything new:o

    5ml Vichy Liftactiv Advanced Filler6/81
2ml Burberry Eau de Parfum 7/82

1 IN from yesterday's visit to Boots for non toiletry essentials.

30 No7 Quick thinking wipes? Bought with £5 voucher so not much cash used, but would never pay £7 for face wipe. 6/76

    I have some uu's

Urban Veda Daily Purifying Facial Wash 20ml - this was nice, had a nice minty smell but I believe it may be pricey so WNB.

Yardley Royal London Body Spray - WMBA, this is a lovely scent but it doesn't last.

    and one in

Avon Vanilla & Orchid Bubble Bath 2L.
