Hi there - just looking for a bit of quick advice. I have a little pot of mango chutney that is unopened (these are the little pots from asda's takeaway range that have a peelback lid.)

I buy these to make coronation chicken with. It is dated today but I wasn't planning to eat it until monday - is it safe to eat if a few days past its use by?

    Thank you!

I am sure it will be fine, especially as it is unopened. Chutney contains preservatives like vinegar. Things like home-made chutney is usually kept for months to mature before opening. Use the sniff test!

    Good grief yes!!!

I would eat it a year out of date without a thought (obv as long as it looked and smelt ok on opening.

I would as long as there are no signs of mould growing on the surface!

Yes you can. I have jars of opened chutneys in my fridge that have been there for weeks and are still perfectly fine. Dont waste good food.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

Yes - any chutney, marmalade or jam is perfectly fine to eat unless its discoloured and/or has mould growing in it! one of the occasions where I ignore use by dates!
