Hi,
I've got some smoked mackerel with a best before date of 17 April. It's still vacuum sealed.
Do you think it's ok to use?0 -
Give it a good sniff, if it smells odd (that's odd, not strong, it's strong anyway), don't use it.
Stuff that is smoked should last, I would eat it (but then again I scrape mould off jam and cheese and eat it):DDebt £26k 18/10/140 -
Which year?
If it's 2012, then it should still be perfectly fine. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -

I'm with Banwa. I would eat it. Smoked mackerel is really expensive these days (since we were told fish oils are good for us and supermarkets racked up the price). I don't really believe in sell-by dates. The supermarkets want you to throw things away and buy more... But dont hold me responsible for any food poisoning you get!
