I doubt if you would get through to an individual store at this time of night. Take it back tomorrow and make sure the packaging showing the use by date is on it! Dont mention washing it! I am sure you will have no trouble getting it replaced. I once took back a fresh chicken on a sunday morning cos when I opened the package the inside of the chicken was er covered in um er Chicken!!!!!! I was given the larger one as a replacement!0

Quick update - I took the slimy chicken back to Aldi, plus the chicken I had cooked just in case it was on the turn. I showed it to the manager and by now the chicken was really humming ( amazing how quickly it had gone downhill lol) he apologised and offered me two new packs of chicken or my money back. When we went to the shelf there was still one pack of chicken there dated tomorrow and it looked rank, covered in spots of slime, so I passed that to him too and have come home with two nice fresh packs dated 12 March. I will be using them up or freezing them tomorrow though.0

I wrapped it up and took it back there. They were apologetic and said not had a problem with rest of batch. To be fair I haven't had a problem with their meat before or since. They refunded my money AND gave me another packet - I was a bit reluctant to try another lot but second pack was fine.
I have to say I am wary about leaving raw meat sitting about in my fridge as I've had problems with other shops too. Nowdays I tend to buy and cook on same day or defrost from freezer as required.
sq:)and I've never had any problems. I've bought packs of fresh chicken breast from M&S reduced with a use by of that day and it's been fresher than stuff I've bought from Tesco that's been 5 days in date!

I think there's something about pre-packed Supermarket chicken...it ALWAYS seems slimy to me on the rare occasions I buy it there instead of at the butchers. I always presumed it was getting all sweaty in the plastic...but little spots/discs/rings ???? Now thats REALLY bad2016: No Clutter to Be Seen 805/2016

Glad you did so. I'm sure certain suppliers put incorrect dates on their pre-packaged meat, as often find with certain supermarkets that they meat has deteriorated before the sell-by date.
I stick to Budgens, Tesco's, Marks, and Co-op, and my local butchers now for fresh meat, and has always been alright from those stores.Oh well...

Just the thought of slimy chicken ! When I get anything from supermarket and it's got a good few days expiry date on , I try not to think what's in the food that keeps it fresh for so long . I don't want to think too deeply about the preservatives that we're consuming .0

I bought steak mince from Aldi recently. It was 3 days in date and had been in the fridge but was brown and smelly when I took it out. It wasn't worth the effort to take it back (live too far away) so we binned it. Don't think I'll be too quick to buy more tbh.Herman - MP for all!0

Glad you took it back Slinky and had a positive result! Better than chucking it anyway :-))Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...:D:D
