Went to Council this morning, gave all the evidence Drs letter (which confirmed my depression and that I was having difficulty coping with my financial situation) and they say that they won't take an apllication for Homelessness from me as it would be found that I had made myself intentionally homesless, that would then mean that I was put to the bottom of the Housing Register!
The alternatives I was offered were to go to Social Services as they could probably help me.
I rang Shelter who said they can't help until I have been found to be intentionally homeless (in writing from council) and that Social Services would have a duty of care for the children but not me - so we would be split uo - NO WAY is that going to happen.
So now I am waiting for a phone call back from SS to just enquire what they would do. Got appt for registering as Homeless on Thurs at 10.30am and appt to see Shelter Advisor next Thursday 4th Oct.
But the fact still is that come Monday I should be out of here, I know I have to wait for the Bailiffs warrant, but how do I pay for my removals and where do I put my things????????
I just seem to face one brick wall after anotherkids home from school in an hour or so can;t wait to see them.

Can I ask how they how they have come to this decision?I am a debt counsellor working in the voluntary sector - we don't charge our clients for the work we do!0 -
Hey, go back to them and tell them they have to provide you with accomodation and storage for your things until they come to a decision, dont let them fob you off, go nthere with your things and refuse to move THEY HAVE TO PROVIDE EMERGENCY ACCOMODATION whilst they make their decision.:j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0

i agree, how the hell have they come to this????? They have to house you, i would seek legal advice on this as they have to put you in temporary housing. Regarding the social services, they also have a legal responsibility to keep the parent with the children so you will NOT be split up no matter what happens, keep your chin up mumoftwins, no matter what happens you have your children and together you will be just fine big hugs xxxxxxxxxxLBM 29/07/ 07

Contact CAB by quickest method (phone or visit depending on your area) and see if you can get an urgent appointment. They can negotiate on your behalf, even if it's just to get a quicker decision in writing on whether you are unintentionally homeless. Perhaps phone the council/call in again and ask to see someone different as the first person might be wrong or not giving you full info. Ring Jobcentre (presumably you are on Income Support and not in work?) and ask for the Social Fund, you might be able to get a Community Care Grant (don't have to pay back) - I think one of the reasons you can get one is something to do with keeping people in the community - for storing your stuff somewhere if nowhere to move to. If you don't get that then try for a Crisis Loan (have to pay back). CAB can help with which you are more likely to get. Have they got a housing specialist?
Keep at it.Torgwen.....................
