That's great, you did really well. I'm surprised that your local authority aren't being more helpful. Keep on at them until they do something. Have you also applied to your local housing companies. We were told they didn't house emrgencies until the council gave them the go ahead, but at least we were on the list if something came up.
Again, try not to panic too much - your kids need you. Don't forget to try and eat well, and get some sleep. You'll be no good to anyone half dead. This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

Hi mumoftwins well done, keep strong for your children. I had a fight to keep my home quite a few years ago now. What kept me strong was that I had to keep a roof over my childrens head as they had gone through a lot of rubbish when their father left.
GOOD LUCK keep going take care of yourself and keep updating us.
PS. I went to CAB and they were fantastic they helped me no end.

News so far:
Went to CAB don't open til 10am so going back shortly.
Rang Drs can't get in to ANY Dr today so have to waut til tomorrow
Rang Council again - woman I need to speak to in a meeting she will call me back later
Rang Shelter for recommendation of a solicitor - one given but on advice of a friends Aunt who waorks for a HA now reluctant to use because of a) Legal Aid will still cost me and b) Council don't look favourably on clients that go in 'all guns blazing' with a solicitor, she feels that if I do it all myself and show what a genuine person I am that they will do more for me.
Just had a phone call from my DD's schoolfriends Dad who has offered to have twins for me if I need to go anywhere and also for me to go and chat to him and his wife one evening if I feel the need.
So, although I am wanting to get things sorted asap I seem t keep coming up against brick walls!Christians Against Poverty - www.capuk.org0 -
Are you sure you will have to pay for legal aid? Ask in CAB they can calculate for you.
Re doc's, can you walk in an wait as it's an emergency or do they insist on an appointment?
Ring council again, don't wait for them to 'phone you back'!!!
Don't worry it will work out even though it doesn't seem like it at the moment.Torgwen.....................

All emergency appts at Drs taken for today  off to CAB now and to drive round areas looking for empty properties so that I have something to go ask council about!
See you later :AChristians Against Poverty - www.capuk.org0 -
Glad your getting things sorted, please dont let the council fob you off, they have a trick of telling you you 'might' have to go into accomodation miles and miles away, this is highly unlikely to happen but i think they do it to put the firghteners on.0

Hi all,
Just back from trawling the area looking for empty properties, and spent 2 hours in the CAB who gave me some internet reading to do, they also rang council for me as I have rung them 4 times today and not had a reply at all  - I would go down and see them but the Homesless Advice dept only see you by appointment. However, the supervisor at the CAB said as soon as I get the Warrant of Posession I should go straight to the Council then someone will HAVE to see me :j .
So tonight is homework from the CAB, tomorrow is phoning Drs again to get appt and when the post arrives hotfooting it off to the Council!
Have I forgotten anything?? Oh yes! DD and DS birthday on Friday - must wrap presents and write cards - buy birthday cake (useless at making cakes)
Have I forgotten anything else now???
Thanks for your messages its lovely to come on and find new messages - you are all so supportive :AChristians Against Poverty - www.capuk.org0 -
Well done you! It sounds like your Council is about as efficient as mine lol.
Try phoning around 5 minutes before the surgery opens tomorrow, and keep trying constantly! If they tell you they won't give you an emergency appointment, ask for a home visit- they'll soon find an appointment for you then!!Don't suffer alone - if you are experiencing Domestic Abuse contact the National Domestic Abuse Helplines

Hey! Didn't think of a Home Visit that'd be good! :rotfl:
Meant to tell you all that the CAB supervisor told me that whilst the Council are investigating my situation they would probably put us in some grotty tower block of flats where all the 'homeless' people go which is in the worst area of the town.
Now I sound snobby - sorry, just a shock, but beggars can't be choosers eh?Christians Against Poverty - www.capuk.org0
