Just come home to find that LL has moved my belongings out of the garage for me and put them under a canopy ready for me to take. He was in the courtyard when I arrived and he said ' you will out for the 1st Oct won't you?'

I don't think your landlord can legally touch your belongings, leave alone move them outside where they will be prone to weather and risk of theft.
Even after 1st October it would only be a court appointed bailiff who could touch your personal belongings.
I think you should tell CAB what your landlord has done - after all you still have rights - and any illegal action, on his part, should be reported to the police.

    Hi Guys,

Just wanted to say that I am drowning in packing boxes - full and to be filled.

I am exhausted as there is so much stuff to pack and I feel pressured by the fact that I must be ready by 1st October although in reality I guess we won't be leaving that day but in the following week.

My mind is all over the place. Its the not knowing whats going to happen until I have been to the council on Tuesday am.

Don't know how much more coping I can do - its really getting to me

  • My daughter wa sin this position last month. The lll cannot touch your possessions without your permission it is illegal and you should have called the police.
We didn't know our rights last month, but the way my daughter was treated was an illegal eviction.
Because you have children the council must provide you with some sort of emergency accommodation, with a priority for permanent accommodation.

  • I second what rog has said, nobody can touch your stuff and you can't be forced out until the bailiffs turn up.

You're coping very well at the moment - it's not long till Tuesday, when, hopefully, everything will be sorted.
So keep yourself occupied with the packing and try not to let things get on top of you.
You have got to prepare yourself for a 'Fresh Start'.

    Good luck.

  • Just caught up...a huge hug for you but WELL DONE for coping so well. Housing is a nightmare and I know having lived in B&B for a while as a teenager that it can feel scary but my mum was brilliant & made it into an adventure and we all coped. You sound like you're doing all the right things and its a real shame that your landlord sounds like such a w****. Just wanted to say I'm thinking of you....
