I'm another lurker but non-poster, until now. I have spent the last four hours reading your thread ( so nothing done around the house yet -ah well!).
I got quite optimistic for you around the weekend posts then couldn't believe what happened yesterday:mad:
Your situation is completely horrific and puts my own problems into perspective. The way you have handled all this totally awesome. I take my hat off to you.
I'm glad you have the amazing support network of MSE and i think all the above posters deserve a pat on the back too:T
Sending ((((((((positive vibes)))))))
Oh Bonnie, thanks for reading!
I am just me, a normal person with two lovely kids who is going through a really tough time. I used to stand with my friends at the school gates where I used to live and say 'one day my life will be normal and mundane' - thats when I was going through my divorce.
When I moved here I thought it wouldn't be long before everything was on an even keel but how wrong could I be?
Anyway an update from the council!
Had a phone call from the Snr HLO at 4pm who apologised for not having rung before and said that she knew my homeless application is the subject of an MP's enquiry (!!!!) and that the Medical Report had been sent as 'Urgent' to the council's medical advisor last Wednesday and that normally the turnaround for reply was 48 hrs, however they had received no response as yet so a Housing Support Officer had been asked to chase it today and that my HLO would contact me tomorrow with an update.
Am I right in thinking that the MP's intervention has had an effect?Christians Against Poverty - www.capuk.org0 -
Yes, they have to respond within 5 days to an MP's inquiry. Obviously your MP's letter has put the cat amongst the lazy pigeons!
You're getting there, give the kids a hug - whats the plan for entertaining them over half-term?

Hi MOT hope you had a good time at the wedding, sorry to see that this process is stressing you out.
Can I just ask what the great urgency is for? Does it really matter if the decision is made today or tomorrow? From your other posts I believe you have until 8th Nov before your eviction (apologies in advance if I've got this wrong). You still have plenty of time, and don't forget your dr's were the main cause of the delay, so I do think it is a bit unfair to blame/complain about your LHO.
I can understand your frustration and I can appreciate that you just want to know where you stand but to be honest even if you're successful, you'll more than likely end up in temporary accommodation anyway. Then there will be more waiting around (sometimes for months) until something suitable becomes available.
Anyway fingers crossed for a quick decision.
Hi Gforce, I appreciate all that you say and you are right - whats the rush? But to be honest I just need to know whether they are going to give me a negative or positive decision - its 'doing my head in' for want of a better expression - sorry:o .
I have already thought that if its a 'no' then I will have to appeal and I will then resend the form N244 to postpone the eviction whilst the appeal is being dealt with. That will then, hopefully, give me a bit more time as I can't afford the costs of moving twice and/or storage. Its really the not knowing that is the so hard to deal with - I can't make any plans until I know one way or the other.Christians Against Poverty - www.capuk.org0 -

Hi Floss,
Unfortunately not a lot as don't have a lot of cash to spare, but my step-mum has said she will pay for the twins to go the cinema on Thursday and hopefully I can take them swimming on Friday.Christians Against Poverty - www.capuk.org0 -

Floss, its Dacorum Borough Council.
GForce - What's the urgency??? Have you tried living in a home where the oven doesn't work and all your possessions are in packing boxes around you and, the landlord comes to pester you to move out? Urgency? MOT is suffering depression, struggling to keep her sanity for the sake of the twins AND she has to chose the next school for the twins to move on to; so she needs to know where she will be living. Also, as of next Saturday I will be away for two weeks and not able to support MOT through these trying times - THAT is the urgency. Sorry if I sound angry but this whole affair is winding me up too. :mad:0 -

I-T I'm sorry if my previous post came across as overly harsh it wasn't my intention. I wasn't trying to belittle MOT's concerns.
With respect I-T you don't know what I have been through. I lived in a house with no KITCHEN for a whole year, I didn't even have running water downstairs and had to use an outsde tap to fill the kettle! I had a 40yr old heating system that didn't work and ice would regularly form on the inside of the windows. Don't get me started on my outhouse that was falling down and full of mold! Unfortunately as this was my own home and I was utterly broke, I could neither complain to someone to get it fixed or do it myself!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
After a year I was given a second hand kitchen and it was like being transported into paradise!
I completely understand where you're coming from I-T, I can understand why this situation is so stressful to all concerned and of course I know you just want MOT settled and safe so I'm not surprised or annoyed by your reply but TBH and extra day doesn't make that much difference.
Please remember that the decision would probably have been made much sooner if MOT's dr's hadn't sat on the med form for soooooooo long.
I really do wish MOT all the best and I hope that the LHO take the mitigating circumstances into consideration when making their decision But that doesn't mean I'm going to start bashng someone who is just doing their job. So many people these days (not saying this of MOT) expect everything to be done for them yesterday. I have people ringing me to ask when their housing priority will be updated when they've only posted the letter the day before - I haven't even got it yet but they still complain it's taking too long and the person they complain about is me!0 -

I do understand MOT, sorry if that hasn't come across in my post. If the decision is a 'no' then please don't give up. I know it will be alot more hassle, stress and uncertainty but I think it would be worth it. Hopefully you won't have to go down that route, especially if your mp's involvement has focused their minds!0
