    Hi Floss,

The LA suggested Shelter who couldn't help due to staff shortages and Social Services who won't help because the twins are healthy and well cared for.

As you know it was someone on here who suggested the Crisis Loan but not eligible for that because there 'is no risk to health or safety' and the Community Care Grant for I'm not eligible either as I am 'not on the right benefit'

Goodness only knows what this other family will do - I have rung Georgia at the HHG to say if the other family would like to ring me I will give them the name of my solicitor!

So if you did get made homeless , what would Social Services do then? Take the children away as they would no longer be well cared for as they'd be on the street ?!

It's totally disgusting. They just block you every step of the way.

Even if they made you pay back every penny of the rent you were unable to pay over a period of time, they need to house you for the childrens sake !

    I'm appalled.

Hopefully it will be money.;) Maybe enough to use a deposit on a flat? That would get them out of having to house you, which isn't ideal but at least you would be able to get somewhere to live !:T

Had a phone call from my solicitor at 6.15pm tonight, she still hasn't heard from council about postponing date but they have said that they will ring her by 10.30am tomorrow.

She went through some other things with me to do with my previous state of mind, how long I have been on anti-depressants etc. If the council don't postpone the appeal date then she has to send all the paperwork through to them tomorrow. So that would mean that I wouldn't be able to go and see the psychologist as his evidence would no longer count! I really do want to see him because without his help it will take longer to get better:cry:

    Hi there MOT
Are the people in the newspaper story the same ones that your neighbours told about that are set to be evicted Christmas Eve with the baby or another couple? another thought has struck me if these people are evicted on christmas Eve how long before somebody else moves in. Or do these emergency accomodation flats stand empty until after Xmas. Who can possibly move in or out when everything shuts down over Christmas
I also was having a look at the Radio 2 website and theres a place on there to tell Jeremy Vine something you want discussed on his show, would that be any use to all of the 'Dacorum displaced'
Plus I put a Your view on the Hemel paper website.

Its no wonder I can't get into the Christmas spirit with reading all this on here then my bedtime reading is a story set in the evacuation of Dunkirk. Then I have a painter desperate to work at my house on Christmas day while we are at my Mums because he spent last Xmas being saved by Samaritans cos he can't bear Xmas without his kids (very nasty custody battle)
    Much love Viv XX

Oh Viv, firstly I'm sorry for that you're not in the Christmas spirit yet;) mind you I'm not surprised if you've read this thread! Also, could I suggest you change your bedtime reading  :rotfl: ?? That poor painter, how awful to be wanting to work on Christmas Day - I do hope that things work out for him, does he have no friends or family to go to to be looked after?

Thank you for your post on the HHG website, I will have a look.

No, these are other people who have to leave on Christmas Eve! The girl in here is going to live in a friend's caravan, but the other family actually live next door and I don't know them. I did offer my solicitors details to them through Georgia at the paper yesterday, but I haven't heard from them yet.

As far as I am aware these flats are open all year so it may be that the council have someone else lined up as they are open on Christmas Eve for at least part of the day, although what they would do if the family didn't move out I don't know:confused: .

The idea about Jeremy Vine is a good one and I shall have a look at the website and let you know - thanks!

Awake again far too early - 3.54am - and lay there tossing and turning til 5am then got up. Decided to go to Dr today for help with this at last - I have put it off for months and months but I really need to sleep ALL night not for 4 or 5 hours then for an hour in the day.
