Aw, good luck on the appeal!Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard.0

Hi MOT,
just catching up again... glad the eviction date has been postponed but pressure must definitely be kept up!!
And I couldn't believe the post where you said your neighbour told you that the HoH has deemed someone else intentionally homeless for having split up with her partner.... Unbelievable. The woman appears to be utterly heartless and comes across as totally arrogant and unaccountable to anyone. However... what goes around comes around, and she will get her comeuppance at some point.
Anyway, I wish you a merry Christmas and hope you are all able to enjoy the next week or so as much as possible. Look forward to a New Year filled with hope.
xxLive your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)

Thanks SD for that - we will make the most of Christmas as much as we can, going to I-T's on Christmas Day so will no doubt be stuffed with a part Italian and part English lunch then play board games after! So hopefully we should be able to 'forget' our situation for a while

You are right the pressure must be kept on to the LA so anyone who feels like emailing them please feel free to do so here is the link:daniel.zammit@dacorum.gov.ukChristians Against Poverty - www.capuk.org0 -

Found another article about another family facing eviction by DBC on Christmas Eve!!!
Christmas Eve is date for eviction
By Georgia Anderson
MORE families face homelessness this Christmas after being served eviction notices by Dacorum Borough Council.
One Hemel Hempstead mum has been told she will be kicked out of her home on Christmas Eve.
Gail Wilmot, her partner Richard Digby and three-year-old Arwen have been ordered out of their temporary council flat on Alexandra Road because they are not eligible for permanent housing.
Another Hemel Hempstead mum, Lisa Hughes, has found herself in a similar position and is living with her partner and three children in a relative's spare bedroom over Christmas.
Their stories echo the case of Julia Davis, who featured in our sister paper The Gazette after learning she would be evicted days before Christmas.
Julia, whose finances crumbled when she was diagnosed with depression, received public support and the council eventually pushed her appeal and eviction date back to the New Year.
Dacorum Borough Council refused to say how many families were set to be evicted before Christmas day.
Gail's family was given their temporary flat after being evicted by their private landlord in Grovehill for rent arrears.
She explained: "After Buncefield, Richard lost his job and was out of work for about six months. We both work now but we accumulated a lot of debt in that time and have really been struggling with money.
"We fell behind on our rent and had to move out, but the council say that we basically made ourselves get evicted because we didn't pay the rent, when actually we didn't have the money.
"We haven't been given a date for an appeal even though we're expected to move out on Christmas Eve, which is just heartless and unfair."
A council spokesman refused to comment on individual cases, but said that if applicants did not meet the homeless criteria, the council worked with other agencies to offer support. The spokesman added: "We also give reasonable notice to people to vacate the temporary accommodation and to consider other housing options."Christians Against Poverty - www.capuk.org0 -
Looks like Dacorum Council Homeless staff have absolutely no idea about living on a real budget and not having enough money to manage day-to-day life..... maybe we should arrange a "real-life" experience - a "Red Letter Day" for the people in ivory towers to realise what life is REALLY like!mumoftwins wrote: »A council spokesman refused to comment on individual cases, but said that if applicants did not meet the homeless criteria, the council worked with other agencies to offer support. BTW, did you get any "support" from "other agencies"? And how can you be expected to "consider other housing options" if you don't have the means to pay a huge deposit for private rented accomodation?!
And where exactly do they expect a family to go on Christmas Eve? Are there many empty stables around your area MoT?!
Sorry, but that has made me really mad :mad:0 -

Hi Floss,
The LA suggested Shelter who couldn't help due to staff shortages and Social Services who won't help because the twins are healthy and well cared for.
As you know it was someone on here who suggested the Crisis Loan but not eligible for that because there 'is no risk to health or safety' and the Community Care Grant for I'm not eligible either as I am 'not on the right benefit'
Goodness only knows what this other family will do - I have rung Georgia at the HHG to say if the other family would like to ring me I will give them the name of my solicitor!Christians Against Poverty - www.capuk.org0 -
Hi MOT
looks like your solicitor will have to set up a new office in Hemel just to deal with all their dispicable decisions.
