DD started packing the house up before me!!! I was shattered from the stress of court last week and she came home from school and started putting packing boxes together and filling them :rotfl: BUT then she started getting up early in the morning (unheard of!!!) and wanting to pack things before she went school  Do you get the feeling she wants out of here sooner rather than later  ;)

What a sweetie! Bless her. You are doing so well things WILL improve I 'm sure. I hope you win the £88m tonight or know somebody that does. You deserve only good things in your life. May you get them. ((((((((hugs))))))

""10,000 council houses given to immigrants in a year
In a new angle on tackling the "weekend trolls" I thought I'd get in first with this one ;) Look, it's in the Daily Mail: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/liv...n_page_id=1770 so its accuracy and fairness are without question.

To me, 10,000 houses doesn't seem a lot given the reported high levels of immigration but apparently there's something wrong with it.

Presumably the people complaining that there aren't enough council houses left for "British people" are the same ones who championed the idea of selling them all off :rotfl:""

Just found this thread in 'Discussion Time' - no wonder I'm struggling to get help

Well, here we are still sitting amongst packing boxes, the majority filled and taped up and some still flat packed waiting for the last minute dash of packing what we still need. However, I am being infested with black crawly beetles  must be from the pkg boxes I got from a woman off Freecycle who had had them stored in her in outhouse for a few months! So todays job is to move them outside under the garage canopy and to shake them well before using :D .

Oven has packed up, so only got grill, hob and microwave to use - so having to think carefully before trying to cook a Sunday roast :rotfl: .

    Things can only get better;)

Hi, they will improve nice things happen to nice people eventually;) . When you are settled there is a good LETS scheme in hemel along with freecycle it may help you and your family get together all the bits you need for your new home. Best of luck keeping everything crossed for you.

I so want to be like thisu:rotfl: :rotfl: :j :j but feel like this:mad:         all the time and wondering how the heck did I get into debt.....
  • Can this get any worse?

Today LL appeared in the grounds of the cottage and started using a chainsaw to cut trees down in the other cottages garden at 9am  understandably my neighbours were furious and the husband politely had a 'go' at LL as he hadn't given them notice that he was coming. This lasted all day and by early afternoon the wife rang me in tears as she had had sharp words with LL and his wife and they told her to 'get out if she didn;t like it' . Then LL started questioning DS about us going, so Italian-Tony went and had 'words' with LL - polite but firm just as ex police officers do ;) .

The workmen working with him must have had a field day and no doubt the gossip in the pub tonight will be good :rotfl:

However, had copy of email from LL tonight that he has sent his solicitor and I just get the feeling that when he responds to the Homeless Officers letter she has sent him he will try and be as awkward and vindictive as he can.

I relied to his email asking him not to complicate matters as I want to be out of here asap too.

why does everything have to be a bloody fight  ?

  • I've been following this story with great sympathy. I really feel for you MOT but there are just a couple of things in all this that concern me and I'm surprised nobody else has picked up on this or if they have they haven't brought it up.

I've been in a similar situation to you with awkward landlords and I too have been served notice in the past due to a landlord selling the house. I've also been in a situation where i do not know where my next loaf of bread will come from let alone my next Sunday Roast! However, point being (and please understand this is not an attack on you, its simply an observation)... There are things that you could've done and possibly still can do and I'll start with your ex employer.

If your ex employer gave you the elbow, you should've taken them to court. You couldn't do unfair dismissal as you weren't there long enough but you can do wrongful dismissal which is a loophole to the unfair dismissal one yr rule. If that employer sacked you while you were off sick I am almost certain (almost certain) that it is not lawful to sack an employee while they are on sick leave from a doctor. You should check this out and you also seem to have a case of victimisation. Don't worry about proving it, it will be up to them to prove you wrong. If you were the one that left the employment, from what you've said, you can prove constructive dismissal which is just as serious as unfair dismissal. Try getting some free advice from a solicitor on this, loads of them do free half hours these days and maybe do a little case study research yourself.

    On to landlords now:
You said that 2 months after moving in to one property, you were given notice to quit which by law must be 2 months. Have you tried to claim your rent back for the full 6 month term of the tenancy? Your landlord failed to keep to their side of the contract therefore you are entitled to the last 2 months of rent. If you ended your tenancy early you can bet your bottom dollar that landlord would make you pay to the end of term, tenants are just as protected in that way and you have a right to claim 2 months rent from LL at least.

Next is the one thing I can't sympathise with, maybe I'm being harsh but this does bother me. You explain the benefits you're on, I assume IB is incapacity benefit. You get the WTC etc, you must also receive council tax benefit and you say you were in receipt of housing benefit. All this is taxpayers money and my bugbear is this: You would've received at least 75% housing benefit (if not 100%) and on a £1000 a month rent we're talking £750 a month in your pocket here. Plus the council tax relief, plus your benefits... You can't afford to pay any of your rent so all that money went on living expenses? Does this include the cost of you having a car, telephone, internet etc of which, all are luxuries that you say in your letter to the homeless office you don't have luxuries. Cars also cost petrol, tax, maintenance etc. Not cheap, even if you own it outright. I assume you have or had no other debts as you say you paid 6 months rent up front from savings and anyone able to pay that much out in one go must be debt free... Is your council going to force you to pay back the housing benefit you kept for yourself?

I am surprised nobody else has picked up on this. Where I do sympathise with your situation and I really really do, I can't help but see the more devious side of this. Sorry.

That aside - please try to get some free legal advice on the points before, you might find you have a good case. Also maybe look at claiming some kind of personal injury award for your accident.

    Without prejudice...
