Does everyone get an advert for Coventry IKEA in the middle of the article?
How bad product placement is that?

I wasn't objecting to adverts on the website, I thought it a bit sick to be advertising a home furnishing shop in the middle of an article about a family being made homeless!

But the adverts are random and often don't depend on the subject matter of article you are reading. The Ikea advert you are seeing is an unfortunate coincidence, dynamic advertising like that usually depends on a combination of where you are logging on from and advertising cookies already on your PC (telling the advertisers what you are interested in)...for example I'm reading the article from work and our internet gatway in in France so I'm getting an advert for a French shoe shop not Ikea.

Back at flat now. Just had my Dad on phone saying have I seen the paper? Hadn't told him about it as I didn't think he read it and didn't want to get him involved, but some of his friends have rung him this morning asking if he's seen it. Didn't know any of his friends knew me!!

Hi MOT - I have just read the 'story' in your local paper. I agree that it kind of 'glosses over' your situation, but it does highlight the attitude of your local council.
To be perfectly honest, I think that the paper probably did a good job - if they had gone into too much detail, then people would just read the first paragraph and flick over. What they HAVE done is to generate potential interest, which could well be picked up by the National Press and even the BBC.
At the current time, the Government is not enjoying universal popularity over its handling of the economy, with particular emphasis on 'social housing policies' and there are many influential organisations, out there, who would welcome such a story as yours as yet another example of how Britain is Failing its own.
Another view, having looked at the response of the council, is that they may try to do something in order to stop your story escalating to a 'national cause' and exposing their own weaknesses.
I think, therefore, that the local press coverage of your story may mark the beginning of a more positive outcome for you and the twins.

I have read the article and I think it is concise and to the point. Let us all hope it has the desired effect. I've also posted a response on the Gazette's web site. If you are still on line MOT how about Three Counties Radio? With all these arrows heading in the direction of the LA they might just get fed up with ducking!
