was chatting to someone the other day that mentioned their light bulb moment. Thought "oh !!!!!!!!!!" i wouldn't be hard to find out and alot of what i post is about family pony and my life both home and working.

I'd be mortified if MIL found me as they know i have problems but not the extent. Also if mum read about my feelings re dad and when i have a vent about things there. Due to the feeling of anonymity i let loose a lot on here that none of my friends or family would ever be told. Think some of it may be rather tricky to explain!!!

This is something that I was thinking about too!

A lot of my debt problems are linked to health probs, so when I start my Debt Diary I reckon it would be pretty easy for family and close friends to recognise me!
Its hard because I know a lot of my past spending has been emotional (related to a rocky relationship with my mother) and I'd hate for her to see me 'talk about it in public'- even though no one would know it was about her!!!

But for other friends and family, well, I don't see why they would care. If they are lurking around here, they'll understand: and if not, they'll never know I'm here in the first place!!

But this much I do know:
If I wasn't here, I don't know where I'd be!!!:o

• Hmm, this is a difficult one. Most of my friends and family know that I'm paying off my student overdraft still, though they don't have a clue how much. Some friends in similar situations know the extent without knowing figures, but some friends left school and went straight into work and have never had the need to borrow, so I think it would seem more shocking to them as they don't really know how easy it is to build up debt.
At the end of the day though, I AM sorting it out now that I'm in a position to and feel I've nipped it in the bud before it got too out of hand, so I don't feel ashamed or anything. That said though, I won't be confessing all - you can't guarantee that your friends will be as un-judgemental as other moneysavers and DFWs.

• I would get a lot of grief of my family if they knew how bad things were, they know I`m always broke but thats it. This is why I use a different user name to my real name and try to be careful about revealing my personal details.

That is why I like this site I can talk about things without people judging me or saying I should know better!

• i dont think i would be too bothered about people finding out my financial state however i find the dfw board a 'sanctuary' on my diary i tell about all my life at this present time... i have a joke with friends and i can help others. if i was found out it wouldnt bother me it will just mean i would have to 'think' about what i post :rotfl:

I can think of only one person who might recognise me, but that wouldn't be a problem. Wouldn't like my family to know exactly how much of a pr@t I'd been...
• People know who I am and I've been very open about my DFWness (debts etc) & told loads of people about the site so am an open evangelist!! If they know it's me then so be it! Can understand why people would be worried in some cases though...

• I m always slightly suprised that some peoples usernames are just their names. How boring and thoughtless. I chose mine to describe something about me. It gives an insight into the life I would like. I value the anonimity (sp) so I can say whatever I like.
