I have severe doubts about it being totally random; the people that have most trouble seem to be the people who are taking the fivers without giving anything back.0 -
There are some conspiracy theories about TSB requiring a PIN so frequently just to avoid paying the 5% but that's nonsense. This month I have had a couple of consecutive PIN requirements for large (contactless-wise) payments but I've also made three contactless (£30, £30 & £16) in a pub without the need of my PIN. I therefore completely believe that it is random. It's annoying but random.
Much like some of the posters on here :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Sorry to drag the thread off-topic, but I'm getting near to the end of my first month with TSB. You know the £500 minimum pay-in, can anybody tell me please whether this is measured on a calendar month (so I need to pay in for September) or whether it's counted, like Santander's 123 account, from the date you opened it (which would mean I'd be OK because the initial payment on the first day - late August - would count for Month One and I'd have nearly another whole month to make Month Two's)?
T&C's just say "month".0 -
I have two TSB contactless. Since I learn how to use it, never fail ...0

It is calendar month and not 'monthversary' as Santander do, so you will need to fund the account with £500 from the 1st - 30th September.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Banking & Borrowing, and Reduce Debt & Boost Income boards. Calendar month. I always pay it first day of the month ....
If you have two plus ac and always have balance of at least £500 of each account, just set up SO one to each other0 -
I've had the TSB account for 7 months have always been paid the £5 and have never used the card always use Apple Pay. Manage it easy to spend the £100
