I bought three of the little me sets with the towel in them. I went to the row of tills at the pharmacy and was served by a young man that may have been the pharmacist. He rang up the three items and cotton wool balls I had bought and the total came to £7.97 and I gave him my credit card. I had just input my pin when out of the corner of my eye I saw a large supervisor come running over saying quite loudly "Noooooooooo dont put that through there is something wrong with the till" or words to that effect. She came along the row of tills and said that there was a mistake on the tills and it was taking too much discount off the items I had bought. I dont where she came from as I had my back to the rest of the shop. I said that as I had completed my transaction the sale should stand. She was pointing out to me on the recept that I had got too much off and was telling the man to refund the transaction.

I told her that if she had said before the transaction was complete that would have been ok but that I had now paid and as I said that I took my credit card back out of the machine as she looked as if she was going to refund it against my wishes.

She was still telling me that it was wrong and I was standing my ground so she said I can get the manager which I agreed to and she looked !!!!!! off as she thought I would say no.

She disappeared for several minutes and when she came back she was on her own. She then made a comment about removing the points from my card and was saying that I had received 600 points (actually 639- I had a 100 points for £15 spend from the machine) and when I asked what she was doing with my card I couldnt make out what she was saying so I said I thought you were getting the manager to which she replied "Oh we will let you have this today only" and then walked away.

I dont know if she made a note of my card number to have the points removed and if she has I will write a letter of complaint about her behaviour. My 19 year old daughter was with me and she was mortified at me for sticking up for myself.

When the man finished off my second transaction for other items he aplogised to me twice as he obviously didnt know what was going on. I had even bought muffins that were reduced to 20p and he pointed out that they were on 3for 2 and as I had bought 4 I could get another 2 for the same price.

I dont think I will be able to show my face in there for a while.

I still dont understand how she knew what I was buying. I was at one side of the store with my back to the rest of the store and the till was miles away from where the baby things were. I dont know if she was in an office or if the till flagged it up.

I am glad you think I did the right thing.

Well done houseofpat! If there is a problem with their tills, then it's up to them to fix it. Plus, as we all now know, the Little Me discount is a nationwide thing. If their IT department (or whoever is responsible for programming the tills) hasn't fixed this 'bug' yet, then that's not your fault.

I think that the onus is on Boots to ensure that all of their staff are aware of this glitch (if that's what it is) and they can manually correct it at the till before asking the customer for payment. As they aren't doing so, then that's their problem. This has been going on for weeks now, so they are either happy for this to happen, completely blind to the problem, or really, really slow at making the necessary changes. How hard can it be to change a couple of lines of code?

I would have done exactly the same as you did in that position, as I'm sure many of us here would :money:
