Thanks from me too Charlotte:). Pleased you were rewarded with the post of the month as well:).

I managed to get 3 sets today (thanks to Angela telling me where they were! lol) and also the store had loads of magazines in the wrappers so I used my 10% off voucher as well. Well pleased:):).

    Tut Tut.........liz_uk

I would have now kept quiet, as i have learned my lesson on the board.......just be prepared for any backlash from people who will tell you that what you did was dishonest and they would have given the money back. Although it was not your fault that the tills are that way, and that the sales person could not read the receipt that stated the ammount that you had paid.

i wonder what boots would actually do if you got a refund and told them they were giving you too much money? would the assistants be able to change the amount they gave you?

    I've been Money Tipped!
liz_uk. up to you if you go back now that you have spotted Boots error. Boots need a supervisor to do this sort of transaction; so Jellyhead, it can be changed, however, they normally don't bother to work the tills to correct the mistake, and see it as a customer service goodwill gesture to let you keep the cash/points.

From my own experience, it's worth the shocked look on the staff's faces when you tell them that they've given you too much money. My most recent example of this was a return of clothing to Tesco which I bought during the 20% sale...11pm, so really quiet and no rush to move onto the next customer. Customer service person went to her supervisor 3 times to confirm the receipt was correct...the first 2 times she thought I was asking for 20% more money back. She came running back on her way on the third trip to the supervisor with a wierd look on her face and said "So you're telling me that we've given you too much money?" When I confirmed that this was precisely what they were doing and I wanted to give them their money back, she went off to the supervisor again and returned with the message to keep it as they couldn't be bothered to sort it out. Wonder what head office would make of this?

So anyway liz_uk, up to you...if you feel bad about it, then you could try to give Boots their money back...if your conscience is clear because it was their mistake, then enjoy! Or maybe donate the excess to charity or something as a good inbetween solution?

I have absolutely no guilt at all. Boots made the mess up, I had my reciept, the sales assistant didn`t confirm the refund amount with me or ask me to sign anything !!

This is the first time anything like this has hapenned to me, so i am still a tad dumb founded.

Well, It`s an extra £15 towards our family hol to Disneyland next year !

I wouldn't have any guilt either. Its not like you're mugging old ladies is it...just a multi million company..I'm sure they can handle a small loss. Its not like it's £1000's is it!

Large companies tend to say that if thats what the till says, then thats what it is... whether it makes sense or not. If they override the prices, they'd get pulled up for it by their boss, so more often than not, its easier to let it ride than to double check everything.
Its a classic example of how computers do not make everything better in retail :D

The sets are now half price in my local boots..The t-shirt set is £4.99..If I get 3 for 2 will they come up at £9.98 now and no free 500 points or will they still be coming up at £4.98 for 3 and 500 points..Anybody bought them half price yet?..It's just that I am off to boots now and want to get some before the offer runs out but not sure if I get the 500 points or what I will be paying...

Yeh, they were half price in the lancaster store yesterday, if you buy 3 t shirt sets you pay 4:98 and get 500 points, even though they are half price, because the tills still have them as 3 for 2 as well they give you back the full price of one set, and yes you still get the 500 points plus the male grooming voucher, its great.
