we just got married on saturday, not really have the cash to have a honeymoon but were looking to escape for a weekend or so.

is there any hotels in dublin that can be used, as i can get there for £46 each, then ideally a free hotel would top it all off as most of the decent ones we were looking at were £100 a night.

Dont mind the 2 name booking thing, as we have joint account, different named bank cards. :)
  • Sorry to hear about your troubles taxiphil! I received the cheque from Ramada about a week ago and paid it in so it should appear in my account soon. It does sound like it is Ramada UK messing you about as the red breasted one dealt with my claim quickly and efficiently.
  • alwaysskint96... shouldn't be a problem without the original credit card, but they will need another card to swipe when you check in... most hotels put a holding figure (probably has a special name!) on the card which will be voided once you check out, in my case at Ramada Chester think it was £50... like I say this was voided when I checked out as it was one of the free night promo things... HTH :D

ps. this is not my clearest of explanations ever!! :o
  • Alias_Omega... you'll have to pop over to the Days Inn website (remember Ramada guarantee only now applies to the US and Canada) and do a search any hotels they may have in Dublin then do a trawl around the comparison sites such as laterooms, expedia etc to try and find the same night in the same hotel cheaper... Afraid there are no short cuts for the leg work involved! Then you may have to be persistent to get them to agree to the free night... but if you are up for a challenge ... :j

    Good luck! :D

I kinda gathered this, were looking for cheap places to goto.

Isle of man on the ferry for 2 people and 1 car is £88
Dublin from parents on train (train, ferry, train) is £92 rtn.

Both really good and ideal for a weekend away, ideally fri and saturday night away.

As she is 38 weeks pregnant, we thought about having a cheap break away, and putting the rest of the cash on a deposit on a holiday next year for all the family, instead of a large expensive honeymoon.

Though, blackpool is £10 per night B&B.. :)
  • Alias_Omega...

Alternatively if you don't want the hassle of chasing free nights, I have stayed here, nice place right in the heart of Dublin, about 10-15 mins walk from the bus station and they have a special deal on:

    Makes it pretty reasonable...

BTW... Congrats on the marriage!

    :D

Bu**er... its Sunday to Thursday only... oh and apologies for stating the obvious on my other post!!!

Quite correct, they pre-authorised £50 on my card when I checked in at Chester although I was given the option of not charging anything to my room, in which case they would not have done this. I gave them a different card to the one I used to reserve the room originally and it was no problem.
