Hi Friday Frugalistas,
Not such a busy day today. In fact I just want to wash a sink of pots then I intend to have an afternoon of leisure. Money saving things today:
*Turned my bucket of windfall apples into apple chutney & sat & updated my blog while it was bubbling.
*Tweaked meal plans to include a freezer dive night next week as freezer is utterly rammed to the point where I can barely open the drawers.
*Write shopping list.
*Knit Christmas present sock.
*Try free 'healthy' drink which we got free with O2 Priorities last week. Mr f said his was disgusting, so better luck for mine!
Cheers,
F x2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever
2) To read 100 books (36/100) 3) The Shrinking of Foxgloves 6.5kg/30kg

- check bank
- call breakdown and haggle down the cost
- get the best deals by shopping at Aldi, Home Bargains and Morrisons
- 7,000 bounts points got to do it today
- read martins email
- ipoll
- check MR apps
- have a tidy and see if I can post anything on eBay
I'll see what other money saving things I can get to grips with as the day goes on
Yay have done all of these things except haggle the breakdown. However, I've done a price comparison and worked out I can save £58 and get £11 cashback if I switch. Once the call centres are open tomorrow I'll be on the phone to haggle or switch!
Used my TSB contactless card - if you do a £100 contactless transactions in the month you get £5 bonus. Think it might be finishing this offer in December but not sure.
Read on my facebook that my local Nuffield Health gym is doing free entry this weekend, so depending on how my ear infection goes I'll be down there. It's part of their Macmillan coffee morning event.
Might treat the family to Pizza Express tomorrow, you get the pizza Meaty Fine Basilicata for half price if you quote Winter Pizza to the waiter/waitress. Plus I can get an e-voucher through a work thing and get 10% off.
Sold 2 books today on Faceache and just waiting for someone to respond about the other 4 that I'm selling.
Signed up for a market research in a few weeks which will earn me £10.Competition wins £14,136.30[\COLOR]0 -
Greetings fellow island-dwellers! Familien-SPL have now been back in the UK for just over a week since the end of our foreign adventures. Jet-lag and culture-shock abound.
Bad things:
* School applications - (Byzantine)
* Food - ("fresh" vegetables are a myth)
* Prices - (high)
* GiffGaff - honestly guys, get a payment system that works. We binned your SIMs and went back to O2 (see below)
* Service (bad)
* Why does everyone on this island look so miserable all the time? Smile - it's free!
Good things:
* Refunds! My last pre-LBM "consolidation loan" sent me a cheque for just shy of £1500, repaying interest and charges for a period they weren't compliant with the CCA. Nice!
* Refunds! A solicitor paid me back a fees deposit for a home sale that fell through... years ago. Few tens of pounds. Nice of them.
* Refunds! E.on repaid me some cash for overcharged electricity on the home-renovation-gone-wrong. Thanks guys.
* Haggling! My house sits in one of those rare locations where mobile phone transmitter coverage isn't perfect when the map shows it should be. I can only get Voda (sometimes) or O2 (reliably) here. But they don't need to know that. When another phone network sent an advert for more minutes and data than I was presently getting I [STRIKE]switched immediately[/STRIKE] got onto O2 customer services to demand they match the deal. They didn't match it - they bettered it, with a tariff you don't see on the website. I'd imagine it's the "please don't go" tariff...
I think that'll do for this week :beer:0 -
Morning! Yay it's Saturday :j :beer: :j Just dropped oh off at the train station as he is going to Liverpool to watch a match - not in anyway dfw! But it's his money so I have no jurisdiction
That means it's me and madam again today. Thinking we will have a home day today - it's hard to always think of fun activities to do that are both stimulating and low cost! Thinking potato printing monsters, games and then early evening film and popcornwill keep madam out of trouble and I will be able to do some bits around the home :money:
There is a garage sale going on in our village starting at 10 so we will walk down there and have a gander this morning. I might even take madam to the park on the way back... we walked down there but there was nothing I needed or wanted so we walked home
[STRIKE]House is a bit of a mess so first thing will be super speedy tidy and clean.[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]I've checked banking - no change[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]All meals from stores - will use up lo honey and orange chicken with rice for tea[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]wrap and post 3 ebay sales :j [/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]update spending diary with purchases yesterday - mouse, 4 pack of smarties and 6 fr eggs (ys to 50p :money:). [/STRIKE]Will freeze the eggs in 2 egg portions
[STRIKE]check on veggies & water. [/STRIKE]Thinking about digging up the courgettes as they haven't produced for a while. Also continue with a bit of garden sorting didn't bother with this, might give them another fed and hope for something else!
[STRIKE]Think tonight I'll watch a film and have a couple of glasses of wine[/STRIKE]
Man yesterday I had a car accident!nothing major, I shunted into the back of another car while we were crawling along in traffic, but it has caused some damage to my car. I have my mechanic coming to have a look at it on Monday and hopefully it's not going to be too expensive. I was so excited to finally get paid after months without no income and then was gutted that I will just have to spend what little spare cash I have on repairs and the impact it will have on my insurance now for years :mad: Had to "count my blessings" to try to get out of the sulk I was in yesterday, it helped a little to remember I have a lot to be grateful for

Morning all
Sorry for the quiet over the past couple of days - I've been like LaE, in a world of knitting and crochet. It's suddenly struck me how close I am to my home made Christmas without having gotten much of it done. Put work on top of that and I'm suddenly mad busy again.
Today is reasonably busy - won't be a nsd as we need to do a final bit of shopping for the month. Plus it's ds birthday next week and my mam is having her housewarming tonight. And I have tutoring as well. I'm trying to work on reducing my stress believe it or not - I'm suffering terribly at the moment with a can't-be-bothered attitude, which I really hate. I am overspending terribly and I hate that as well - all on food because I can't be bothered prepping and cooking anything...:o:o
Must force myself up and back on the wagon.Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control
