  • Hi everyone, I've been a lurker and am now wanting to join!! Need some inspiration, some motivation determination and to succeed even if it is in silence from the real world!

So it's 130am I'm so tired but I have had a great evening achieving! I have cleared out a whole black bag of rubbish from bedroom, found lots of stocking fillers that I have started buying shoved in wardrobe under bed and forgot about, I've found loads of Christmas wrapping paper and bags and cards so that's done and I found my passport! As you may have guessed my house is full of clutter!
I'm feeling on top of the world after tonight!!

Anyway for the rest of the week I would like to achieve the following...

    - use the gym twice that I waste money on every month because the kids do swimming there
    - make some flap jack and oat biscuits
    - clear out a bag for charity shop/give to friend
    - clear out a bag of rubbish from the clutter
    - ironing catch up on the ironing!

Worked...Have managed to finally get onto just doing 10 hour shifts after weeks of doing up to 16 hours. Also now on nightshift which pays better.

One more shift and I can have a whole three days off. So excited.

Have been taking wee hot meals with me to work and haven't spent any money in the canteen since June.

  • Good morning :D :coffee:
Hope everyone is ok. Ziggy, hope that your leg isn't too sore. And Legomum - hope that your stress days aren't too stressy.
I've decided that Wednesday is (still) my least favourite work day... Not my best classes, plus a long meeting after work. Tonight's meeting is on mental health, which is a bit ironic all in all...
    Other plans:
    :) check banking and PAD
    :) aim for nsd
    :) all meals from stores
    :) try not to stress
:) mark a set of books (this is getting a bit desperate)
:) finish my latest crochet item
Think that will do. I haven't bothered to do much for weeks now. Just getting through the day is my plan.

Morning guys  ziggy hope you're ok after your fall yesterday x

legomum sorry you've had such a rubbish night. Hope you manage to squeeze in a nap this afternoon x

ally yay to work calming down & 3 days off looming :j

My 2nd day off of the week :j ahhhhh I love working part time. I get paid on Friday so we will see how I like having less money (although after a year off of work everything is a bonus now!)

I have a dentist appt at 11.30 to have a filling :( and am intending to take madam to the zoo with our membership cards afterwards for the afternoon. So apart from petrol it's a free afternoon out :)

    Small things for the day:

    * checked banking & cc statement - cc statement now issued so I will work out what accounts need to pay for what later
    * I need to do about 30 mins of work (as I left early on Monday as wasn't feeling well....
    * Apart from dentist fees  not spend any money didn't manage this! Figured while I was in town I might as well go gc shopping. Spent £61 for the next 2 weeks :T
    * take packed lunch, drinks & snacks on our outing
    * [STRIKE]submit meter readings[/STRIKE]
    * [STRIKE]re-read an email which has a list of dates for events and see what ones we can attend[/STRIKE]
    * read martin's email. Am going to get the canvas photo package. Was going to get the professional (digital) photos we had done in July of dgd printed and framed for dd's Christmas gift anyway so that is a nice little brucy bonus :D. [STRIKE]Will speak to oh this morning about him actioning that![/STRIKE]
    * [STRIKE]do some garden tidying - emptying pots, washing them out and storing, sweeping up leaves and bagging up to make leaf mould[/STRIKE]
    * all meals from stores
    * using up rice & fruit bread in freezer and anything else I can! Still only just made the smallest of dents on it in a week!
    * wash, chop and freeze 600 grms of runner beans bought back from allotment yesterday :)
    * get bags, lunches and clothes ready for work/CM tomorrow
    * vacuum & polish upstairs and clean bathroom (mid week clean)

Ok that'll do! Happy hump day guys x

Morning Moneysavers & welcome to newbies. Legomum - I always think my lists are repetitive too, but that's because money saving is all about small regular habits. I once read somewhere that you have to do somethibg 27 times for it to become a 'habit' so establishing good daily routines is important.
OK....today. Well, I have to do some prep for a meeting tonight but aiming to do the following:
*2 baths from 1 lot of hot water.
*Wash hair & let it dry naturally.
*Laundry done overnight on cheap tariff. Will peg it out but yesterday's didn't dry & so I switched the heated airer on overnight.
*Use some of our homegrown stuff for dinner.....basil & courgettes.
*Plan a cook up tomorrow to use more courgettes & lots of apples.
*Make a payment across to CC. We used it for main grocery shop just for maximising points for vouchers but I then pay it off from grocery budget.
*Update personal finance project I'm doing (recruited via survey site).
*Take mini muffins out of freezer to eat while watching 'GBBO' tonight instead of calling in to shop to buy chocolate on the way home from my meeting.
*Cat's wasted dinner chopped up with some new food this morning & he ate it.
    *Knit Christmas present socks.
*Try to make a start on listing ebay items......or at least photographing & uploading pics, even if I don't finish the listings.
OK....can feel the caffiene is doing its job. Must crack on,

  • Morning chums,

Welcome Plsnomorechaos. It's a great habit to tune in here each morning and check you're doing everything you can.

Foxgloves - Funnily enough I was listening to a podcast yesterday in which a Dr referred to a study and said to form a habit it must happen 60 days in a row.

    My (repetitive) list for today;
    - Check banks and YNAB
    - Bring lunch to work
    - NSD
    - Have an early night
    - Shop around for cheapest place to buy some games coming out soon

That's all I can actually think of at the moment. I'll no doubt come up with more.

    Morning all.

    My list for today

    - check bank done - £20 owed by mum paid back :)
    - tidy flat
-sweep and mop kitchen floor (putting it separately as it's the job I always miss then regret later)
    -bring bin in
-more laundry on, put away previous load (I will get to bottom of basket eventually!!)
    -go to gym!!!
    -pump up bike tyres
-not go overboard with dinner out tonight
-cycle to above to give good reason to avoid expensive alcohol (and get fitter)
-prep slow cooker curry and leave split peas to soak overnight (and put conspicuous reminder to put it on tomorrow!)
EDIT: and order birthday gift for OH's sister and send her a card

I think that's all for today... as a bonus if I could figure out how to get my jawbone to talk to bounts that'd be good - it says they are connected but I haven't earned any points
    House fund: ~£5000 / £10,000 :D_£1000 emergency fund #208 - £151.74/ 1000 _

I think with living frugally it can take years! It now is second nature to me to be as frugal as possible and make the most out of our resources but it has been years in the making!

Well, that's budgets updated. All looks in order. Various funds switched around to keep budgets straight. Grocery budget looks a bit tight for final shop this weekend, but it's doable, so decided to skim current account & move £31 to the Car Loan Pay-Down Fund.
Am now feeling as though there is more blood in my veins than caffiene, so off to brew a cafetiere, than back up to my HQ to start the ebay pile.
It's amazing how much more at peace I feel once a bit pile of receipts, little notes I've written to myself, etc, are fed into updating my monthly budget. I used to be so appalling at managing money (in fact, my system was NOT to manage it, as it kind of got in the way of spending it!) but I now like to know exactly where we are at any time of the month, esp when it is getting nearer to pay day.
    Take care all,
    F x
