    Afternoon Campers,
Very definitely an NSD. We cleaned out the pond & found being covered in stinking slimy mud a pretty good deterrant to spending! Rounded up a few more apples & blackberries. Two baths from 1 lot of hot water.....which was distinctly pondy after that. Nice afternoon of leisure as watched an episode of 'Beck' while knitting a Christmas present.
I need to have a good money saving week next week. Our aim is to kick a big lump sum at our loan in the New Year so I need to get that built up as much as possible. I don't care how small some of the money transfers into our 'Pay-down Fund' are, as long as it keeps growing, because we know that every little helps.
    Have a peaceful evening all,

I have just copied down your courgette curry recipe from your blog Foxgloves - thanks for that :)

I have all the ingredients, but I must first ponder how I might be able to fit it into the freezers.....

    Plans for today:
    [STRIKE]-NSD[/STRIKE] :D
    [STRIKE]-clean and tidy[/STRIKE] :D
[STRIKE]-defrost food for next couple of days' lunches[/STRIKE] :D

That's all I can really think of at the moment.

Had a good DFW day today - I did loads of cleaning (including the dreaded kitchen floor, which turned out so well I sent a picture to my mother!). :T I feel so much better now the place is in good order - but not long until another run of horrendous shifts undo it all....
Have also had good holiday-based discussions with OH who has agreed that we shall be frugal - and offered to buy the next big shop, which will have all our non-perishables to take with us. :D Also remembered to apply for EHIC, made sure last year's travel insurance still valid (it was).
I have even found some possible Christmas presents for OH half price!

I also wrote out my budget for the next month (payday on Wednesday). Won't find out final pay until the day but I have a range, and even with the lowest possible take home pay, and the holiday, the overdraft should go in the right direction! :D

P.S. I love this thread as it gives me motivation to get the place clean and tidy as much as anything else!

  • Hi everyone just popping in to report for the day :D I feel like pretty much everything I do nowadays is small dfw friendly! Highlights include:

    * made big batch of refried beans in the sc. Will divi up and freeze some portions
    * hm yorkshire puddings and... gravy! First time I've ever made it! Was passable but think it will take some refining!
    * freeze 1/2 the batch of yorkshires
    * took madam to the zoo again. Only spent 40p on some chicken feed and 90p on a packet of crisps (daylight robbery! But if I buy a multipack I'll eat them all in one go :o so more economical to get her the occasional packet ;))
    * my bff, her husband and ds called to see if they could popped in this afternoon for a cup of tea and a catch up. So I got 6 red velvet muffins out of the freezer for us to have :)
    * still need to make lunches for tomorrow
    * Going to go and have a bubble bath, facial & mani pedi

Ok see you guys later x
