Hi Weekend Savers,
Not intending to do too much this afternoon. Today's stuff:
*Overspent grocery budget by £10. We stocked up on a few extras in the world food aisle at Sainso's. Lots of stuff like rice & tinned tomatoes on promo....25p for tomatoes, etc.
*Lucky break for Christmas gift......walked thru home dept to the loos & on my way I spotted a really nice gift for M-in-law. £32 reduced to £16, so gratefully bought that. She is very difficult to buy for & can sometimes be inclined to tell people if she doesn't like her gift!! (& I have to count to 10......then go back out again & try counting to 20........)
*Read thru all the T&Cs on new Co-op dividend card. Looks good. Looks like dividend points on Co-op insurance policies will also be included in the scheme from next year.
*Made space in freezer by having soup for lunch & using up various other containers of stuff in meals this weekend.
*Managed to visit garden centre to buy aquatic compost without being spendy. Did buy one bag of mini daffodil bulbs but they were bogof so I shall have enough to plant 3 containers.
*mr f's cooking night & he's also just announced he's cutting the lawn, so I shall have an afternoon of free leisure activity. Intend to knit, as like you CCL, I feel very behind on the Christmas gifts I need to make.
*Checked my ebay listings. No sales but several watchers so that's a start.
OK, think will just nip upstairs & change bedlinen (cheap overnight wash in mind) then it's serious sitting on bum time.
Cleaning out pond tomorrow so probably won't be in fit state to post!

That means it's me and madam again today. Thinking we will have a home day today - it's hard to always think of fun activities to do that are both stimulating and low cost! Thinking potato printing monsters, games and then early evening film and popcornwill keep madam out of trouble and I will be able to do some bits around the home :money:
There is a garage sale going on in our village starting at 10 so we will walk down there and have a gander this morning. I might even take madam to the park on the way back... we walked down there but there was nothing I needed or wanted so we walked home
[STRIKE]House is a bit of a mess so first thing will be super speedy tidy and clean.[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]I've checked banking - no change[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]All meals from stores - will use up lo honey and orange chicken with rice for tea[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]wrap and post 3 ebay sales :j [/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]update spending diary with purchases yesterday - mouse, 4 pack of smarties and 6 fr eggs (ys to 50p :money:). [/STRIKE]Will freeze the eggs in 2 egg portions
[STRIKE]check on veggies & water. [/STRIKE]Thinking about digging up the courgettes as they haven't produced for a while. Also continue with a bit of garden sorting didn't bother with this, might give them another fed and hope for something else!
[STRIKE]Think tonight I'll watch a film and have a couple of glasses of wine[/STRIKE]
Man yesterday I had a car accident!nothing major, I shunted into the back of another car while we were crawling along in traffic, but it has caused some damage to my car. I have my mechanic coming to have a look at it on Monday and hopefully it's not going to be too expensive. I was so excited to finally get paid after months without no income and then was gutted that I will just have to spend what little spare cash I have on repairs and the impact it will have on my insurance now for years  Had to "count my blessings" to try to get out of the sulk I was in yesterday, it helped a little to remember I have a lot to be grateful for
Pleased with what I've done todayalso did a load of hockey cokey & line dried. Usual bits of using yellow stickered items & using up toothpaste, cut off the end when it seemed *finished* :rotfl: insisted madam eat her sandwich before she had anything else!
And very pleased to say I finally made a batch of flour tortillas :T They were so easy and cheap! 38p for 16 :money: Have soaked a load of black beans to make refried beans tomorrow to have cheesy bean burritos for lunches in the week, will also use for quesadillas we're having on Monday :money: 38p!!!!DF as at 30/12/16

Glad you've had a good day, would you share the tortilla recipe and also your SC yogurt one please? To reciprocate I made these today using frozen blueberries, even if I say so myself they were amazing. Omitted the jam as didn't have any.

Dnms, that sounds fab! Please share
PF, Those look great too, I'm trying to do useups but may have to buy some blueberries now!
To be honest legomum that's why I made them as I had OOD yogurt and massive bag of frozen blueberries. They really taste like those you buy in certain coffee shops with a green logo
I'm sure in good MSE style you can replace the blueberries with any fruit to hand0 -
Up and about so I thought I'd take the opportunity to post. Successful weekend so far. - bought a pretzel for half the price using the shopping centre app
- wombled 2 Costa point receipts
- got 2 children's meals and a snack box from KFC as these were the cheapest options and collected a loyalty point on the app
- got £1 bottles of Dove shampoo from pound land
- bought some stamps from whsmith and got sharpie pens for £7.99 which is a birthday present

- collected competition leaflets from a couple toy shops for my DD to enter
- went for an Italian meal and got a pizza doggie bag so that will be today's lunch

Morning all
My list for today:
Bit of batch cooking - I want to make a big beef casserole and a chicken curryDone, Thai red chicken curry for tonight, beef stew will do for a couple of days in the week
Used up lots of odds and ends!
Also use up some stale bread to make pizzas with bits from the fridgeThese were yummy, used tinned tomatoes, chopped courgette, a bit of chopped chorizo and grated cheese from the freezer - but you can just use whatever you have..... slice the bread (if not already sliced), butter - I use garlic butter, crush a small garlic clove and mix with some butter, them a spoonful or so of tinned tomatoes or any tomato sauce, then your chosen toppings, then grated cheese, any kind, last of all a grinding of pepper and some dried oregano or some such. Kids love building their own
Bake in the oven (when it is on for something else is fine, as the temp doesn't really matter) till hot, brown and cheese melting and bubbling
In the unlikely event you have some leftover, they are great cold the next day, and pack well into lunch boxes if you aren't too ambitious with the topping!
Make a new loaf in the BM Done, used up 2 part bags of flour
Take excess strawberry plants out of their trough for DD's new strawberry bedThey will be ok in their compost in a bin bag till tomorrow! Done, put them in the car to drop off tomorrow to ensure they get there - DD was adamant she wanted them and not to put them on freecycle, so there is no question of my foisting them on her!
Tidy up and water some more pots and containers in the garden, might even empty some! Got rid of the last batch of mangetout peas, tidied up yet more pots of strawberries
Dog walk later Done, had great fun looking at the nice big houses (and gardens) round the corner from our rather raggle taggle terrace :rotfl:
OK, better make a start on all that cooking!
Hope everyone has a good day0 -
