Thanks everyone for popping in and posting!

Friday evening turned more expensive than I expected. I had to pick up my new glasses so also popped into the Boots nearby as I needed a new Clinique powder compact. While I was waiting to be served I started browsing on another counter - I ended up buying a brow pencil and under eye concealer as they both looked so good when the saleswoman applied them on my face! So I've totally blown my toiletries budget and have gone into deficit!:o:o:o:o:o. I'm really not safe to be let near cosmetic counters. And after all my good work reining in my splurges here!

And my monthly groceries/household deliveries arrived later when I got home. I've had to give up with Tesco as they're not delivering online purchases with bags anymore. This is really inconvenient for me as the logistics of my small flat means it's awkward for the guy to come in with the trays - plus I don't like strange people in my home. So I turned back to Waitrose this week. What a difference in price ! I know I had ran out of quite a few things this month, but so much more expensive, even when buying their Esentials range. And not so much choice either. Hopefully Tesco will change their minds and start delivering in strong paper bags - like Boots have just changed to. I'll have to try Sainsburys next time !

Saturday was the fruit/veg run at the greengrocers. I also bought some Hisbicious tea at the health food shop as I read good reports on it for lowering blood pressure. Just as well it's very fruity as I couldn't drink it if I could taste the tannin!

Today I met my friend for brunch and afterwards at home I finally ordered a large suitcase for the holiday! I bought the John Lewis own make after all it's very light, strong and has a 10 year guarantee and it's very stylish - shiny blue! I had £21.50 left in JL vouchers so total cost ended up at £137.50 which is certainly a lot cheaper than Samsonite!

Tomorrow I'm off work as I have to go to the doctors to get an appointment so they can make another appointment for me at the eye clinic (trying to make one on the phone or online is totally useless!). I had a torn retina a few years ago in one eye which was lasered. However when I went to the opticians she said she would like me to go the the eye clinic to check it out. She has given me a referral letter but it has to be booked by my GP. So I'll be lining up first thing in the morning!

Oh! And I lost another 2lb when I weighed myself yesterday!:j

Well done on the weight loss :)

Do Morrisons deliver in your area? They still do bags, they charge 5p each but you get it back the following week when you return them.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)

Thanks beanie - I feel like we're going backwards with regards to doctors' appointments! The surgeries try to sell their new systems as wonderful, but any patient I've ever spoken to has nothing good to say about them!:(

I've never tried Morrison's for regular deliveries SA. I know you use them so I'll have a look online. We do have a large Morrison's a few miles away so I think I'll give them a go if they deliver to my area. :T

  • Have a great week SSG and hope you get that appointment!

    Brizzle x
  • Thanks brizzle:wave: I got up early and went to the docs this morning and queued up. When I finally spoke to the receptionist and explained she said' oh, but you don't need to see a doctor, I can hand the referral letter to our duty doctor and he will make the appointment for the eye clinic!' Well I wished her colleague on the phone had told me that earlier then I could have just dropped off the letter into the evening surgery last week!:wall:

So waiting now to hear from the eye clinic. I did enjoy my day off from work today though. :). Didn't do much - just pottered and a friend popped in during the afternoon for coffee. Only thing spent was £13.99 from Amazon on filters for my water jug.

Back to work tomorrow plus I have my annual flu jab at lunchtime.

    SERIOUS SEPTEMBER – DAY 19

    · 1,500 cals three days in work week, 500 cals on two and lighten up a bit at weekend!
    - had a bar of Green & Blacks dark choc with salt and toffee - it was so nice! I had brunch out with my friend - salmon and scrambled egg on toast and two flat whites. Big chickpea and rice salad with lots of veg for dinner with fruit, yoghurt, honey and walnuts for dessert! Rather high on calories I think, but at least it was healthy!

. Walking at least 30 mins per day, plus the leg exercises that Elnora has given me - did about 20 mins of walking and leg stretches. Failed on feet!:o

    · - Drink six glasses of water per day – five!

    · Go to bed at a sensible time during the work week – - failed last night

Eating down from the freezer - Lots of smoked haddock on the cards next weekend!:)
