  • Fantastic news that the PPI cheque has arrived. :T Enjoy researching your wish list and I hope you get some bargains. I agree about the Premium Bonds as I have some and win every so often which is always nice.

Well done on the weight loss. I think a couple of pounds per week is achievable.

I really like Michael Buble - Lost is my favourite.

  • When we did that cruise, we layered what we had and they provided outdoor wear on various excursions too. The one item we both bought was a pair of snowboots

Thanks inod - I'll check out the finer details on the holiday bumpf I received to see what they provide.

Hi Elnora - I love 'Lost' as well! And 'Home'! His Christmas album is on my ipod Christmas playlist which I listen to when I wrap up my Xmas pressies! A bit of Michael and some Bailey's keeps me going!:D

  • Congratulation son your PPI payment. Love your PPI list of spends. All very sensible but a few treats. You reminded me to get my premium bonds sorted to.
If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

  • Since I last posted, budgeted spends have been stamps, more toiletries and my nail appointment.

Update on homes for the PPI cash:-

    Savings/Investment

When I told DD of my Premium Bond and gold plans, she remarked why didn't I just put all the cash I'd earmarked into my work pension instead as a more 'sensible' alternative as I'm coming up for retirement. I thought it over and changed my plans slightly so today I've:-
    1. Bought £800 worth of Premium Bonds instead of £2,000. I already had some so this brings me up to a balance of £1,000.
    2. I still bought the gold - £500.:DA little bit will be shining away at the Royal Mint that now belongs to me!:D
    3. BUT - I did put £1,200 into the pension today. Of course, DD is right in that it's a sensible way to use the funds -an additional £300 went straight into the pension pot as well because of the tax break.
She'll be pleased though when I win that great, big Premium Bond payout, but I will refrain from saying I told you so!:D

    Other
    1. I need a new big suitcase for the cruise as I will be packing away some bulky clothes. My current one is on its last legs! John Lewis have some that I like the look of and are quite a bit cheaper than my favourite Samsonite models. I bought DD a JL suitcase last Christmas and she's very pleased with it. Need to look into this - Still need to look into this!
    2. And warm outdoor gear is needed for the cruise. Bit of a dilemma as there are quite a few sales on at the moment, but if I buy now, will the clothes be too big by the time I go away if I continue to lose weight? DD reckons you need them a bit loose anyway as you layer up - I I decided to bite the bullet and buy some bits in the sales. I bought a Helly Hansen three quarter length outdoor coat, some waterproof, warm trousers and a new fleece - all reduced - £204.49. The coat is quite smart and will do as an everyday coat when it's really cold, the trousers will be utilised as well when I'm in Scotland for the New Year and I needed a new fleece!
    3. An ioniser for my bedroom. Again need to research this. - Still need to do this.
    4. Seriously thinking of upgrading my ipad as my current model is some years old now. I had some problems with it earlier on in the year and got it fixed, but it's beginning to cut out every so often when I'm using it. - again, research needed.
Anyhow - at least I've got the Savings bits sorted out!

Off home now - will catch up later!

  • A good idea to put money in your pension and the extra with the tax relief is always welcome.

Proper outdoor clothes are a good investment and you seem to have got them for a good price.
  • Fabulous to hear you've got your PPI check. I only had 1 PPI payment about 2 years ago, it was for some ridiculous amount, something like £3.50!

I'm especially pleased with the Helly Hansen coat Elnora as they're usually rather expensive.

Hi Skinny! I did get a PPI payment several years ago via a Egg loan, but didn't even think about the other loan at the time. Still - leaving it has generated more interest and therefore a larger payment!:D
