Sounds like you’re back on it SSG. What do you class as ad hoc spends - is it something you haven’t budgeted for? I think I need to adopt a similar strategy, have a pot for random spends, try not to spend it and send it to savings if I don’t.

    Have a fab weekend xx

  • SA - Yes it's whatever is left out of my salary when I get paid after I funded my pots. I divide the excess cash into four so I have weekly spends. Anything left over each week goes into the Ad Hoc Savings pot. I think you are doing pretty much the same by the sound of it.

I've got a couple of extra budgeting pots to set up for next payday as I'm trying to think of anything else that I pay out on an irregular basis and where I pay for them out of Ad Hoc spends. . For example, my annual YNAB subscription - I'm going to allow £48 for next year's payment so will be budgeting £4 per month for this.

Also, I top up my Underground Oyster card every couple of months, plus I've just bought my annual Senior Railcard. So I'm setting up a pot for these and will be putting away £7.50 per month.

And I buy books and downloads from Kindle now and again - a pot is being set up for this -£20.

This will cut down the amount of cash each month in the Ad Hoc spends pot but more should end up going into the Ad Hoc Savings plus will still give me a little leeway on the odd thing that pops up.

  • SERIOUS SEPTEMBER - DAYS 2 AND 3

    · 1,500 cals three days in work week, 500 cals on two and lighten up a bit at weekend! – slightly over on Day 2 but all ok on 500 day yesterday.

. Walking at least 30 mins per day, plus the leg exercises that Elnora has given me - Again all ok on the 30 min work walks - failed on Day 1 but did the leg stretches when I got in from work last night. I think doing them as soon as I get in is the key when my leg muscles are still warmed up. Must try harder with foot stretches. :o

    · . Drink six glasses of water per day – All ok here.

    · Go to bed at a sensible time during the work week – failed again on Day 2 but was tired last night so was in bed by just after 9.30Pm. :)

. Eating down from the freezer - finished off the fishfingers and wedges in the freezer. Sorting out some scratch meals today!

£24.22 has gone over to Savings from this month's Santander 123 Cashback/interest.

Ad Hoc spends have been extra lotto ticket last night for Euromillions as it was a big rollover (didn't win!) - £2.50 - and £3.99 kindle book download (Wolf of Wall Street).

Big budgeted spend was ticket for Michael Buble concert in December - £175:eek: - it's a lot but we have excellent seats and seems to be the going rate - some seats were even dearer!

I'm out soon to buy my fruit and veg - nothing else on the agenda apart from my walk later on, roning and catch up on TV.

I've worked it out that to get to my Icelandic Pony weight before I head off on the cruise I will need to average 2.4 pounds per week. And this includes the festive season!:eek:

Ooh enjoy Michael Buble - I went a couple of years ago with a friend - (her son occasionally gets freebie hospitality tickets for shows from his work) up until i actually saw him, I could take or leave him....but I thought he was great - especially since it only cost me a meal for myself and friend :):money: and I didn’t have to do that. I’ve got freebie tickets to see Gloria Estefan in November - again good hospitality seats - so I’ll buy tea. I don’t think I’d buy tickets as again they’re pricey - but should be a good night

Keep that Icelandic pony in your mind - you’ll do it

Well done on the weight loss, better than nothing :j They say 1-2lbs loss a week is what to aim for to keep it off long term, so in theory you should be able to do it.

Gosh that's a lot for the Michael Buble tickets  Will stick to watching him on TV.

    Have a fab week xx

Thanks for the vote of support on the weight loss guys. :T

It'll be the first time I've seen Michael Buble live. I do like him and everyone I've known who has seen him in concert rave about how good his shows are. DSis is the big fan - she goes to see him every time he is in the U.K. Shel'll often go on her own and has saved herself quite a bit in the past as the vendors like to get rid of the lone seats and will discount them quite heavily.

I wish I knew someone like you do though milann who can get free hospitality tickets!:)

  • Well done on the weight loss , the concert will be fabulous. I am off to see Cher in October a freebie from a friend .

The weather is very autumn like today, hope it's warmer in the south.
Life is an adventure, never stop exploring.

  • END OF SCRIMPY WEEK 2 - SEPTEMBER

Big announcement first - my PPI cheque arrived this morning!!!!:j:j:j:j

I wonder if it was down to my complaint letter? Still I'll never know now - at least I got it in the end!

Scrimpy scores on the doors - well nothing to wing over to Ad Hoc Savings from this week's allowance - I ended up with a £12.02 deficit.

This was mainly due to today - my friend and I went up to Buckingham Palace to see the Queen Victoria Exhibition. We both really enjoyed it - one of her ball gowns and a military jacket and hat were on show - we couldn't get over how tiny she was as a young woman. They looked like they would fit one of today's nine year old girls!

Anyway afterwards we both had a sub-roll each and coffees in the Palace cafe - which was nice as it was outside under a marquee and you could look over the Palace lawns - I treated my friend to celebrate the PPI cheque!:D So £18.95 - no wonder the Royals are rich!:rotfl:

Also I had to top up my Oyster card - £20 - And Taxi was £6.

So I'll be paying the deficit from next week's Ad Hoc spends.

I've also got to work out what I'm going to do with the PPI money. I've got a couple of things I want to buy and also want to put some aside.

And have thought up another monthly YNAB monthly budget category, which is Taxis. I'll be putting aside £15 for this next payday.

Thanks SG2!:hello: - the sub roll today isn't exactly diet friendly, but it was part of a day out and yoghurt and fruit on the menu tonight to make up for it, plus a 5:2 day tomorrow!:D

It was teeming with rain here this morning - though quite mild. Luckily the rain stopped by the time we had to walk through Green Park to get to the Palace!

Well done on your Cher freebie!
