  • It all sounds delicious to me SSg life is for living.

I’m with you on the tea can’t stand it. My Essex family find it hilarious. Every time I go round my parents my dad asks me if I want a cup of tea, I’m 54! He doesn’t get it, being a Londoner it just blurts out automatically :rotfl: I too gag, I think I must be allergic to it. Can’t stand herbal stuff either. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

I actually don't like tea either (the normal black tea) but like herbal and fruit teas. DS gave me a free sample of the cold infusion fruit tea bags and I was a bit sceptical but they taste just like diluted squash nothing like tea. I drink black coffee for a hot drink.

I think you've done really well so don't let a few days off plan make you think you've failed. You can get straight back on it next week. Enjoy your lovely meals out :)

I know what you mean arsenalbarnie - I come from a long line of East End tea drinkers! They could never understand why I never liked tea!:rotfl:

SA - I think I'm going to give the cold infusion fruit tea a go - if it tastes like squash then should be ok for me.

i couldn't make it through the day without my tetley. i take a supply on holiday with me

My boss and his wife take their favourite tea away with them too when they go to their place abroad.

  • Sounds like you are having a good break, you can diet next week. Enjoy rest of your time away.

    Thanks SG2!

We all had a delicious lunch today - took OH's DS2 with us. Alas though, the wonderful cheese trolley is no more!:(. They now pick the selection of cheeses beforehand and bring these straight up to you. They were still very nice though!:D

I paid for the lunch - I had already insisted to DD that I would do this - the cost will be coming out of the PPI money - you know the cash I haven't got yet!:rotfl: so for now it has come out of the Ad Hoc Savings pot. The other spend today was from the Gifts pot - OH's DS1 and his partner were popping over this evening - they have just announced that they are expecting their first baby!:T. So I dropped into M&S on the way back this afternoon and bought a bouquet for the Mum to Be - £15 - there wasn't a lot left by the time I got there, so I had to pay a bit more for a nice display. She was thrilled with it though.

  • .......AND END OF SCRIMPY WEEK 1 - SEPTEMBER

Out of the £40.77 Ad Hoc spends this week I have spent £5 in the butcher and £28 on DD's cushion yesterday - I've not put the cushion through the gift budget as it was a rather 'Ad Hoc' purchase. So I have £7.77 to wing over to the Savings pot.

  • Now that we are officially in September and my family permit the use of the C word, can I ask if you have ever been to the Country Living Christmas fair? Is it worth a visit?

Sounds like you’ve had a lovely time with your dd and family. I love going to the home of the fat rascals - we often go for a day but haven’t been for a while. Might have to remedy that soon.

Hi inod and Dottles – The Show that I attend every year is The Spirit of Christmas Show sponsored by House & Garden magazine and is held at Olympia. I think though that it would be pretty similar to the Country Life show as a lot of the exhibitors attend quite a few of the same sort of things around the UK during the year, including flower shows, county shows, etc.

You do have to pay to attend either of the above shows – as I have been going to it regularly for some years I get an email now for discounted tickets. I've not long bought ours – 30% off and it came to £17 each. So it does depend on whether you want to pay to get into something just to go shopping! We always enjoy it as we make a bit of a day of it – stop at the Champagne Bar for a drink etc! The stalls are always varied – Christmas decorations and items for pressies, including clothes, home wares, jewellery, food, toys, etc. Eats and drinks in there can be a bit pricey – I've seen some people bring their own packed lunches – but we normally have cake and coffee when we get there, er – champagne half-way through the day, and end up with a sausage in a roll from one of the food stalls!

Like Dottles, the Show always kicks off the Christmas season for me!
