It ended up a spendy day as I had to get a taxi there and back - £30 going but DSis ordered a Uber for me on the way back, which worked out £10 cheaper.I do like Uber for that, it's a bit cheaper, but also you know in advance what it's going to cost. I hate sitting in a taxi watching the meter go up and wondering if I'll have enough cash to pay for it at the end of the journey!!Pay off Car Loan £17,047 £10580 by Christmas 2022

I was pleasantly surprised at the cost skinny. Unfortunately our local council have refused Uber a licence so I can't actually order one to pick me up at home. Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

Thanks DIA!
Today I booked cinema tickets for Sunday to see the new Tarantino film. I bought them via my usual 2 for 1 Times offer and my friend will be driving us and buying the coffees. Also booked the Queen Victoria Exhibition for next month
I ended up buying a linen throw from Habitat for DSis/OH's anniversary as the linen scented drawer liners had sold out and I wanted them to go with the diffusers. . The throw is smashing though and will go with the cushions on their garden furniture. A bit dear at £60 but DD is going halves with me.
I've not being doing too well on the survey front lately. I'm hardly getting anything from Prolific and I keep missing out on the Opinium surveys as I'm late getting to them and then they're full up!:(
But... I found a lipstick I really like that stays on better than any I've bought so far. It's the Maybelline Matte Ink Crayon - £9.99 - it comes in a shade of pink that I like for my daywear and really stays on - you can put a bit of gloss over it to lose the matte look if you want but that doesn't seem to fade the colour. Even after eating and drinking there is still a stain left - the closest mid-range brand to it I've found is Max Factor's Lip Infinity but that's goes flakey after a while. So very pleased with my new purchase. That's the end of SSG's Beauty Column for now!:)
Have a good evening all.

Amazing news about the PPI!
I'm loving the beauty tips too, I'll have to investigate that range of lipsticks when my current one runs out.0 -

Hi SG – Yes, there are certainly some beautiful residences in York – well out of my range alas (unless I win big on the Lottery!). I periodically check out the properties for sale in the area on Rightmove, just to give me an indication of what I could afford. There are flats and small houses on there that would be within my price range – DD's stepson and partner have a lovely little renovated Victorian two-up two down which would suit me perfectly and is valued roughly the same as my flat. I think I would like a house as I'm fed up with all the hassle and cost that one has with a freeholder when you have a flat. Even when a flat is commonhold, you are still reliant on all the other flat owners coughing up for repairs, insurance, etc. However, moving up there would be conditional on family still living in the area at that time. Anyway, I aim to spend the first year of my retirement where I am now though as it's a nice area near the seaside that I feel I never get the benefit of as I spend so much of my week at work or either travelling to and fro!GeorgianaCavendish wrote: »Amazing news about the PPI!

Hi Georgiana – nice to see you back! I'm very pleased with the lipstick for the price. At least I've managed to buy a cosmetic that actually seems to do what it advertises for a change!Hello Seasidegal,

Hello Elnora – welcome! – thank you so much for your lovely comments. You've probably read on Happy's diary that I've decided to join her on her healthy eating/fitness campaign (which I really need to get going with!).
I've shamelessly plagiarised Happy's schedule somewhat. So here goes the targets up until 1 September, when they will be revised:-
-
- Zero alcohol – should be ok on this one – I don't drink alcohol on my own at home (unless it's the glasses of Bailey's at Christmas whilst wrapping the pressies!) and I can quite happily go on the fizzy water if I do go out socially between now and 1 September.
- Maximum of 1500 calories for five days, 500 calories for two days (to include 5 x fruit and veg and just one sweet treat on the 1500 days)
- Six glasses of water per day – must get better on the water front. I frequently forget to drink if I am really busy at work.
- Step up the walking pace - to and from stations during the work week – at the moment it takes me between 12-15 minutes to and from home station and 10 minutes to and from work station. At the weekends make sure I have a 30 minutes walk each day.
- Go to bed at a reasonable hour – I'm terrible at this – even during the week days when I have to get up early I'm still faffing around at 11pm watching the box, reading or on the tablet! No wonder I'm always naff at getting up in the morning!
- No money wasting. Balance YNAB daily
END OF SCRIMPY WEEK 3
Scores on the doors this week was a -£5.58 deficit on the Ad Hoc Spends budget as the taxi fares last Sunday came to £50 and the Pret lunch today was £5.58 . So the overspend will have to come out of next week's Ad Hoc money.:(
Still - I won't be spending anything else today. A colleague very kindly brought me in some of his home-grown courgettes so tonight will be a healthy courgette and pea omelette with side-salad for extra veggies!
Have a good day everyone.
x

Good luck with it! I usually go to bed at a reasonable time but my inner dialogue will not shut up so I end up reading on the kindle for far too long.
Courgette fritters might be another healthy low cal option if you have any left over? I finally have a few baby ones growing in the tunnel so should finally have some to eat this week.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

The omelette was delicious redo and I do have some courgettes left over. I've got a courgette fritter recipe somewhere though I've never tried making them - you have to grate them don't you? Think I'll have to give it a try!:)Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟
