Retirement will be SO good when you get there. Although maybe you’ll get bored and need a wee part time occupationshoe shop perchance
:rotfl:
Have a great week x
Hi brizzle - Holiday is early next year. As I want to see the Northern Lights in all their glory winter is the key time to go. November/December weren't really convenient for for DD so we booked it for the New Year.
I don't think I'll get at all bored when retired - I've got a whole regime worked out already!:DFinally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

The Lion King should be goodEnjoy the Lion King - I’m not sure about it tbh - I think the skills behind producing it are amazing - but - I think it’ll be too real- I blubbed at the animated one - not sure what I’d do with life like looking characters. You’ll have to report back.
Your holiday sounds fantastic - what an incentive to get back on track with your 5:2 diet - you can do it.
Thank you both - I'm really going to try and knuckle under with the diet - they'll be days and evenings when I'm out and about socially so I'll break it, but I'm not out all the time so it will be doable.
Looking forward to The Lion King on Sunday - my friend and I will be well armed with tissues though!:DFinally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

END OF SCRIMPY WEEK 4 - JULY
My eye has been somewhat off the MSE ball this month so I've had to replenish some pots and also the depleted EF after the tooth debacle. So I've allowed myself £50 Ad Hoc spends each week for this coming month. Hopefully there will be plenty left over for the EF.
This evening I've been to the hairdresser. He threw in a free Opalex hair treatment which costs around £30 so a bit of a result there.
The heat was suffocating today. Thank goodness for air conditioned trains and offices is all I can say! And thank goodness for my lovely tower fan which is cooling me now and will be accompanying me into the bedroom tonight! Not looking forward to travelling tomorrow on the hottest day of the year!:(
So I will spending my lunch hour tomorrow in the cool office reading diaries - I've still got several to catch up on including Hairy and inod's
Off to bed now!

Does the opalex work ? My hairdressers are going to be offering it soon ....Sealed pot challenge 822
Jan - £176.66 :j0 -
Hi dawnybabes! – It's supposed to strengthen your hair - it made my hair feel quite soft and silky, but I do put a mask type conditioner on my hair quite regularly anyway with the same sort of results (Philip Kingsley's Elasticizer is a favourite but not dirt cheap sadly:(). I suppose it might depend what sort of hair you have – mine is quite thin and fine but not too damaged considering I have highlights. Tbh it was nice to have as a freebie, but I'm not going to be splashing out on it at the hairdressers!
START OF SCRIMPY WEEK 1 - AUGUST
Looking ahead in the month, I am taking a week off work in a couple of weeks time to potter about at home and see a few friends, etc. My friend and I quite fancy going up to London for the day and visiting the new Queen Victoria Exhibition at Buckingham Palace which has been put on to commemorate the 200th anniversary of her birth so will sort out a date and get some tickets. Also have little nephew's birthday and DSis and OH will be hosting a family barbecue that day. Plus it's DSis and OH's anniversary – DD and I usually get them a joint something so will have to have a think about that.
Been raining today with more forecast later and over the weekend. Thankfully it feels a lot cooler today than yesterday, which was awful! I met my friend in for a birthday drink – she was 60 recently. Luckily the wine bar was air-conditioned – we bought a bottle of wine each and I bought the picky bits to eat as it was her birthday. Again, as it was a 'significant birthday' I bought her a couple of thngs from Jo Malone that she was thrilled with.
We didn't have a late one as my rail company was warning that they were running a reduced and slower service owing to the heat. I really couldn't face the thought of actually preparing a meal when I got in as it was so hot that I bought some salads in the little M&S at the station so this will come off the Ad Hoc spends as a punishment! And then we all got turfed off the train halfway home as the overhead lines went down! Spent nearly half an hour milling about until they fixed it! Wasn't happy when I finally got home!
Nearly the weekend – my boss call from abroad this morning – he said go home early if you haven't got anything urgent to do. I think I'll take him up on his offer……………….:DFinally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

Drinks with friends and trips to London are what Summer should be about
Can you pay/delay for the delay? (It all adds)
Great boss. Lucky you
Have a lovely weekend. If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

It sound as if there has been some horrendous train journeys due to the weather and yours sounds as if it was one of them. I suppose we haven’t had extremes of weather historically so we’re not prepared but it’s looking increasingly likely that we need to get ourselves prepared.
I’d quite like to see the Queen Victoria exhibition myself. We went around the Palace when dd lived in London several years ago but I do quite fancy the Victorian theme - we might see if it fits into our next trip down to dds.
It’s thoughtful of your boss to ring from abroad.January spends - £587.580 -
Boo to the train delay
It really annoys me that we're so unequipped in this country to deal with any sort of extreme weather. Glad you had a lovely day beforehand though.
I like the Elasticiser and they're often in my beauty boxes so have a couple in stock. QVC often have it as deal of the day in supersize too, might be worth looking out for.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -

It looks very interesting milann. I have visited Kensington Palace where they have quite of few of Victoria and Albert's exhibits on show but I'm very keen to see this particular exhibition.Sun_Addict wrote: »Boo to the train delayIt really annoys me that we're so unequipped in this country to deal with any sort of extreme weather. Thanks for the tip SA. I never think of looking via QVC so will bear it in mind when I next stock up.
Wow! The time has flown by again since my last post!
END OF SCRIMPY WEEK 1 – AUGUST (which was yesterday)
Out of my £50 Ad Hoc Spends budget, I ended up spending £4 on a taxi, £13.98 on Kindle for the latest Alison Weir novel in her Six Wives of Henry VIII series – this one on Ann of Cleves, which I really enjoyed. Apart from these, the rest of the spends for the week were budgeted – including a new pair of sandals! After boasting of my capsule summer shoe wardrobe, the strap broke on one of my pairs of casual sandals so I've had to invest in another - bought a white pair from Marisota - £21 in the sale.
So ended up with £32.02 to go into the Ad Hoc Savings pot!
"The Lion King" was really enjoyable – the CGI was great. But of course some sad moments, so my friend and I had a sniffle into our tissues!
SCRIMPY WEEK 2 – AUGUST
Again I have £50 Ad Hoc Spends – may see what is on at the cinema this weekend and I have to sort out the exhibition tickets. I'm off work from Tuesday to Friday next week (hooray!) so will try and meet up with friends. I'm still waiting on DSis to give me an idea on what to buy little nephew for his birthday.
Still waiting to hear on the PPI since my recent phone call with them!
I'm typing this in work so will be shutting down now and catch up on diaries when I get home.
