You've just made me at least £90 a year richer; And (according to the MSE mortgage calculator) if I pay this into my mortgage each month it'll save me £372 in interest and I'll pay off the mortgage 3 months earlier. :j:T:beer:
Do they offer a referral scheme do you know? (Like Nationwide, when both get £100 when you recommend a friend)
ANDDDD awesome news on the PPI, just fantastic, so very pleased for you :j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j just WOW. On the PPI:beer::beer::beer:
Enjoy itOh wow, congratulations on the PPI pay out and well done for sticking with it, it was well worth it.
Thank you all!
Skinny - I checked but the last Santander referral scheme ended a couple of months ago, but thank you for thinking of me. I'm glad you've managed to save some cash! One thing I missed out in my previous post was that you have to pay in £500 monthly but I'm sure you picked up on that.

Your Norwegian holiday sounds fabulous, especially the northern lights and Icelandic horses on the beach.
I hope you enjoy your time off work and relax. I'm sure you struggling with your eating is due to stress, so hopefully it will be easy to eat healthily when you retire.in_need_of_direction wrote: »Great news on the PPI. Make sure you allow yourself at least one fabulous treat
Thank you both!:). I'm going to think up a nice treat inod.
It's funny but on reading the breakdown of the payment, about two-thirds is made up of interest accrued over all those years!
I booked my air tickets to Scotland for the New Year. The fare wasn't too bad but as I have to take a larger suitcase that goes in the hold I've had to pay an extra £40!
Today I'm off to see friends for lunch soon. Also need to buy wrapping paper, cards and drop off some dry cleaning.

Thanks very much both of you.
Had a really enjoyable lunch with friends yesterday catching up. Just went to a local little bistro that I've not tried before - £31 out of the Entertainments budget.
It's a rather wild and windy day today in Seasideville. One minute the sun is shining, the next it clouds over and feels like a downpour is on the cards.
I've got to wing around the flat housework wise and then I'm off to the greengrocers. I've also got some books that I've weeded out to go to the charity shop. This afternoon I think I will be watching 'Dial M For Murder' from the comfort of the sofa!:D

Your lunch out sounded nice. We went out quite unexpectedly- dh was looking bored so we walked into local town - it is having a bit of a facelift - the old produce hall of the towns market has recently been converted into a food hall - lots of different foodie outlets, a bar and music, they’ve also placed lots of big decorated frogs about town to attract folk in to do a ‘frog hunt’. So we dodged showers, walked along the river, ate out and walked back along the river clocked up 5 miles too
I’m still smiling at the thought of your £9000 :money: enjoyJanuary spends - £587.580 -
Congratulations on your PPI pay out.
Thanks LABMUM – I was so pleased they gave me my half, like you said your that your provider confirmed to you. I was worried that I would have to get the ex's signature before they would pay out anything. The funny thing is that in the letter they sent me, they wrote that they would be "contacting the joint holder separately" with regard to his share. I certainly didn't provide any contact details so whether they will take the trouble to track him down, I don't know. If they don't or they can't find him, he has £9,200 sitting there that he doesn't know he has!

Thanks SA – my friend's husband, who has always been self-employed, got a couple of thou back due to mis-selling of PPI.Your lunch out sounded nice. You and your hubby always seem to go out on nice walks and day trips milann. Can't wait until I get more time to do the same!
Wednesday already – I'm back to work, it's raining and I wish I was at home!:(
Last Sunday I had a nice day though. It was little nephew's birthday and DSis and OH held a family barbecue – we all had to laugh though – as there were four other children there, DSis was planning on a session of musical chairs and pass the parcel – in the end she didn't do it as they were quite happy making a din on the trampoline, trying to kill one another with plastic lasers and Harry Potter wands (there were four boys there in total!) and trading sweets and bits that they manage to bash out of the hanging donkey (which was then destroyed totally)! All in all they kept themselves occupied!:rotfl:
Little nephew was very pleased with his money box ATM machine I bought him, but promptly forgot his pin number that you need to get in!
It ended up a spendy day as I had to get a taxi there and back - £30 going but DSis ordered a Uber for me on the way back, which worked out £10 cheaper. Also bought wine and chocs that totalled £17.
Then as I said above – back to work on the Monday. I've got nails tonight and will see about the cinema for the weekend. Also got to sort the exhibition tickets out.
It's DSis and OH's anniversary soon and DD/OH and I always get them a joint pressie. This year it's Linen. They have quite a lot of that sort of thing so I've found some nice 'linen' scented diffusers and drawer liners online so I'll order them today.
I've received back the yearly illustration in respect of my DB pension – and all looks ok there. I've also applied for a yearly update on my State Pension position.
That's all I have to report for now!
