Thank you both! My friend and I enjoyed "Green Book." Good entertainment and very funny in places.

I lost just over 3lb when I got on the scales yesterday! So that's just a bit over 17lb in a month! I'm going to wait until next week's weigh-in and then try on some jeans that I've not been wearing lately as they began to feel a little tight and see if the diet's beginning to take effect.

I did have my first taste of chocolate in a month today though – a colleague brought in some little Lindt chocolate squares to share and I had one! It was lovely but I didn't have any more! :D

Talking about weight and the 5:2, driving home from the cinema on Sunday my friend and I noticed that Dr Michael Mosley is currently touring the UK and he is at our local theatre tonight. As I am on the 5:2, and my friend is thinking of trying his Blood Sugar diet (she has been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes), we decided that we'd like to hear what he has to say – we are both fans of his anyway and always watch him on the TV. It was nearly sold out, but we have managed to get two tickets up in the gods - £25 per ticket so I've gone into debit on the Entertainment pot and will have to fund from Ad Hoc spends.

Apart from that I didn't spend anything yesterday – today I've bought a birthday card and a sympathy card in M&S - £4.50 from Gifts pot. Plus I've paid my monthly £15 to the guy in work who runs the Lottery syndicate (I do have a pot for this as well! :D ).

I've also received my monthly interest and cashback from my Santander 123 account, so have winged across £17.64 to the savings pot.

Hope you get some lucky numbers on the lottery.
The tickets to see the 5:2 guy sound interesting - am I right in thinking you eat normally 5 days and have less than 800 calories 2 separate days - I don’t think I could do the fewer calorie days.

That's right milann - although I'm sticking to the original 5:2 diet where you have 500 calories on the two days. I find if I do the two days on working days the day goes quicker! The positive thing is that you can do the low calorie days on any days you chose and knowing that you are eating normally the next day keeps you on the path!

Michel Mosley was very entertaining and informative – he's a cracking raconteur – just talks off the cuff but so interesting. The poor man had hurt his Achilles tendon though and his leg was in a support. He rode onto the stage on a strange pedal bike with a little skeleton bound to the front!

The first half of the talk was mostly about how he came to be involved with the BBC and some entertaining stories of the various well-known people he had worked with. The second half was about the actual diets and how and why he evolved them and then ended with a Q&A session. He does have my respect because tries new things out himself (he famously swallowed a tapeworm once during one experiment!). His went into detail about his latest offering, Fast 800, which is an amalgamation of the 5:2 and Blood Sugar diet and updated with the latest medical research. I'm going to stick with the original 5:2 as it’s working well for me – my friend who tried the Blood Sugar Diet and fell off the wagon is thinking of going on the Fast 800 now because she is getting worried about her Type 2 diabetes. He was signing books after the show but the queue was long and we wanted to get home. I've bought the book on kindle though as I'm interested in reading the updates and it was actually a fair bit cheaper - £3.80. So I also spent £12.10 that evening at the theatre bar - and £10 for my taxi share there and back. The Entertainment budget has taken a hit and I've had to dip into this week's Ad Hoc spends.

Yesterday was a NSD, but Ad Hoc wise today I had my weekly coffees with my friend (£5.10) as we can't do tomorrow lunchtime, plus my good pen has run out of ink so £13 for replacements (I had to buy a box of 2).

Also, yesterday I had my yearly BUPA health assessment which I get via my flexi benefits through work. Apart from my weight, all ok here thankfully though my HDL cholesterol levels were low so was told to eat more oily fish and good fats (which I'm trying to do on the diet).

I also had a really nice, relaxing neck massage today through work – they're laying on 15 min sessions for staff once a month so I'm signing up regularly for this.

Tonight I'm popping in to see a friend on my way home tonight from the station. I haven't seen her since before Christmas as she's been away and I'm dropping in her belated birthday present.

  • Well done on the weight loss, I hope the jeans feel more comfortable :).

Glad you enjoyed seeing Michel Mosley, I always find his tv programmes interesting.

The neck massage sounds amazing, I often have a stiff neck.

    Thanks both!

END OF SCRIMPY WEEK 2 – FEBRUARY

    End of the week!

Today I had to raid the Gifts pot as I bought some Amazon birthday gift e-vouchers for one of my besties and DD's SIL. Also £10 from this pot as my contribution to a birthday gift from the all of us on the desk to a team colleague.

Nothing spent today or anything tonight on the Ad Hoc Spends front, but only £12.48 to go over to the Savings pot from here this week owing mainly to going into debit on the Entertainment category due to the impromptu theatre visit earlier this week.

However, I did receive my £25 pay-out from Opinium into my bank account today so that has been added to Savings as well.

Update on the PPI claims: I've received a text from Lloyds Bank to confirm they are looking into my credit card claim.

Haven't heard back from yet any of the other credit card providers but I'm not holding my breath here as I don't think I took out any PPI with these.

I also received a thick form for completion through the post yesterday when I get in from work. The covering letter and prepaid reply envelope didn't have any heading so no clue as to what company it was from. Just looked liked generic template letters and forms that are produced willy-nilly via the photocopier! I managed to deduce from the reference numbers on the covering letter that it related to the policy numbers of the two loans I took out thirty years ago! So I will be completing these tonight and will send them off. I wouldn't mind though, but I've already provided most of the information they want via Resolver.

AND – finally catching up on the Cleaning project! I've been very tardy this week and not done anything! I'm going to blitz the whole Living Room in one go tomorrow. I will also wash my throws as well and will be taking any cushion covers that can't be washed to the dry-cleaners.

On Sunday I'm going to do the same and amalgamate all her tasks for the bedroom rather than do it in bits in the week.
