We've had sleety rain too. Hopefully it won't turn into snow for either of us!
Hi Hairy - I've got out my file in respect of the settled credit cards - I've found eight settled accounts so I'm giving it a go on the Resolver site.
The other thing is that I've also found the paperwork in respect of a loan I took out with an ex-partner in 1989! We split the balance of the loan into two separate loans a few years later when we broke up so I'm going to give these a try as well! I'd totally forgotten about them!:) The only downside is that the first loan was in joint names and I don't know where the ex is but I'm still going to make an application and see what the procedure is if needs be.Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

It sounds like you’ve been a busy SSG since I last had chance to catch up with you. I’m loving the cleaning regime and your commitment to it. I tend to have a massive blitz each school holiday but do the bare essentials in between. However I’m quite impressed with myself today though - I’ve blitzed my living /dining room and sorted my kitchen. Just having a break before I go and fold the beds up after my visitors last weekend. Wish I had a big house with enough rooms and beds so I didn’t have to use fold out beds....:eek:but think of the cleaning that would create :rotfl:January spends - £587.580

Milann – You have been going gangbusters on the cleaning front as well! – well done! It's a nice feeling when everything is shipshape. Your right about cleaning the extra bedrooms. My DSis has quite a big house with four bedrooms - two rooms are used as guest rooms and also BY her OH's little great-nephew and great-grandniece as they often stay. Then when she has other family or friends over at the weekend she's running around changing all the bedclothes!
End of Scrimpy Week 1 - February
Last night I met my friend after work at Pizza Express. I know we did have a starter, main, dessert and a bottle of wine, but it still came to £35 each with the tip – and £15 was taken off as well because of the 2 for 1 voucher! Pizza Express appears to have become more expensive, but is that because I haven't been there for a while?! I did enjoyed it though – probably more so because of the diet so I really savoured and appreciated it! Back to 500 calories today though!
It was also late and freezing when I got off the train so I paid for a taxi from the station to home (£5).
So Scrimpy Scores on the Doors for the week - £41.71 has been winged over to the Savings pot from the weekly Ad Hoc Spends! I've also winged over £94 from the monthly council tax payment as this month is a non-payment month, and also I received my cheque for £7.31 from the rail company for delay and repay so that's gone over too.
And FINALLY I've managed to cash out £25 from Opinium and that will be going over as well once it hits the bank account. Still a long way to go with One Poll and PA.
Scrimpy Week 2 - February
New week! I have £85 in Ad Hoc pot this week. DD and OH are driving down tomorrow – weather permitting – I've told them PLEASE not to bother if the roads look bad! If they do come we are having an early dinner tomorrow at the local Thai with Dsis, OH and little nephew. Not got hardly anything left in the Entertainments pot so will have to juggle here and deduct from the Ad Hoc side. Cinema visit on Sunday all paid for.
Haven't got anything else in the diary for the rest of the week. Nothing at all to pay for today so a NSD.
Still no snow here! Sleety rain again this morning on the way to the station and icy rain at the other end in London. It's freezing!
P.S. Cleaning project – didn't do anything last night because I was out. Tonight I'm supposed to clean the walls, ceiling, skirting boards and artwork in the Living Room and also dust/ vacuum the bedroom. I'm leaving it all till tomorrow morning when I go through the flat with my weekly clean. The Organising bit was to remove anything in the Living Room that doesn't normally live there and return to its rightful place! All ok with that one so nothing to do tonight!

Hi SSG - I’m being nosey - how do you decide how much to put in your ad hoc pot?...I quite like that idea.January spends - £587.580

I always think pizza restaurants are really expensive probably because it always seems like fast food to me and so I expect it to be dirt cheap. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Good luck with the PPI claims , you have to be in it to win it sort of idea , so have a go.
Have a great weekend with DD and OH , hope they make it this time weather and all. Pizza express was a little dear , I like Bella Italia the best .This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

I agree Hairy. Pizza Express is at the dearest end of the restaurant chains but it did seem a bit steep! The previous occasions I have been there it was more of a quick visit before the theatre or cinema so I only had a main and a drink - maybe I just didn't notice how dear it's become.Cumbria_lass wrote: »Good luck with the PPI claims , you have to be in it to win it sort of idea , so have a go.

Thanks Cumbria - DD isn't coming down now:( - of more anon!
I've liked Bella Italia the times I've visited it - we don't have a local branch alas!Hi SSG - I’m being nosey - how do you decide how much to put in your ad hoc pot?...I quite like that idea.
Hi milann - basically it's the money I have left after I've been paid my net monthly salary minus all my outgoings for the month.
You have probably read that I use YNAB for budgeting. When I get paid I input the amount into the 'To Be Budgeted' category in YNAB. I have virtual savings 'pots' set up in YNAB for everything I can think of that I would spend out on - e.g. savings, monthly DDs, insurances, management charges on the flat, toiletries, clothes, nails, hair, entertainment - you get the idea - I've just set one up for purchases for the food bank. All this is then allocated from 'To Be Budgeted' into the appropriate categories. Anything that is left over is my Ad Hoc spends to do with as I like. I then split it into four weekly categories in YNAB. At the end of each week anything left over goes into the Savings pot.
As I'm trying to be a bit more scrimpy I've not been spending it willy nilly and endeavouring to put as much into savings as I can. However some months I spend more on things than other months - the Entertainment budget tends to be the main category that goes up and down so I will squirrel a bit more here from the spends. It's what YNAB terms as 'rolling with the punches!':D
I hope that makes sense - YNAB does offer a month's free trial if you want to have a look at the method. Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟
