You’re probably a tad relieved that dd isn’t braving the elements even though you miss out on seeing her. I’ve never been a fan of pizza express. It always struck me as a wanna be, in this instance a wannabe more upmarket than a pizza place. I much prefer the more decidedly cheap and cheerful Pizza Hut that always has a deal of some description but I do have down market basic food tastes.Mortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 12st determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes. I was disappointed as DD and OH made the decision yesterday not to come down because of the weather. But I'm relieved too as I would only have worried about them driving down all that way. Will be a month or two before they can make another date but I will be seeing her next month as we have theatre/gig things booked.
Last night I had the journey home from hell! There was a power failure on the line near my end. After about twenty minutes of sitting on the train we were all turfed out at a station a few stops from mine. It was chaos - a small station that can't hold everyone inside - and it was freezing outside with driving sleet and a Siberian wind! I didn't even bother trying to get a cab - I just waited for the replacement buses to arrive! To be fair they arrived within half an hour which I thought was good but the one I got on was a school bus and the seats seemed quite smaller than average. We were all soaking wet and crammed tight - the girl next to me was almost sitting on my lap! We did have to laugh though! The good old British do or die spirit coming to the fore!
I did feel so thankful though when I finally got back to a warm home and hot food. It puts things into perspective on how lucky I am.
So today I've finished the housework and Cleaning project job and will be popping out to do a few errands. As I'm not going out tonight I'll be curling up on the sofa - was thinking of downloading the Glenn Close film 'The Wife' as it has had excellent reviews. Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

Our posts crossed Cumbria! No DSis and I decided to leave it - she has had a heavy week what with work - we were only going out because DD and OH was coming down. So I'll catch up with her and family another day.in_need_of_direction wrote: »You’re probably a tad relieved that dd isn’t braving the elements even though you miss out on seeing her. I am inod but I'll be seeing her soon
I do like Piza Hut as well (well there's not much I don't like!:rotfl:), but on this occasion we were meeting up in the City and there's not that much in the way of cheap restaurants if you want to have a sit down meal in the evening.:(Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

Well I'd just finished my previous post and DSis rang. They had decided to drive over to a retail park not far away from me to change a few things and wanted to pop over and have a mooch around our little high street. They had their great-nephew with them as well as my little nephew so we ended up have a bite to eat in one of the local cafes. I ended up spending £15 here plus I bought little nephew a multi-coloured pen he liked - £2.95 and £5.57 in the novelty sweet shop for both boys.
The cafe spends came from Entertainment budget and I've £5 left here so will probably be raiding Ad Hoc spends this month and rolling with the YNAB punches!:D
They've not long gone home so I never got a chance to get to the greengrocers etc. It'll have to be a trip to Aldi tomorrow. Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

I'm sorry you're not seeing DD this weekend, that's very disappointing for you, but at least you won't have to worry about her safety.
It was nice for you to see Dsis and small nephews. Enjoy a relaxing evening tonight with 'The Wife'.

Think it was the right thing not to travel yesterday - too much stress and risk given the photos of the South of England on Friday. Cold this evening too.
Have a good weekend anyway, and keep warm. Those commutes sounded horrid.

Hi brizzle - yes I was glad they didn't attempt it. I would have been worrying the whole time.
And oh to the joys of the daily commute - not!
I went to Aldi this morning and spent £12.34 from the food budget. Bought fruit, organic eggs, washing up liquid, more coffee pods ( I've underestimated how much coffee I actually drink in work so thought I'd better get some more!), some tins of soup (I've not tried Aldi's before), their rather nice sour cream and onion quinoa bites (which are 85 calories per bag and good if I get the munchies in the evening), wholemeal rolls, and naans.
I've also bought a bag of their Kavanagh organic porridge as Georgiana wrote in her diary that she can't tell the difference between that and Flavahan's organic porridge. Flavahan's is my go-to porridge, but it's £2.30 per bag against Aldi's £1.49 so it's got to be tried!
Later I'm making bean and vegetable stew which will do for a couple of dinners and then ironing. Off to the cinema later. 'Vera' when I get back! Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟
