i have been on a traineeship course with seetec since Monday.
and for the last two days 2 boys on the course have been asking me some very inappropriate sexual questions ( not sure if i can post what was said on here) and making me feel very uncomfortable.
i didn't say anything to the guy running the course as both yesterday and today one of the guys doing it has left after me. but i phoned them today after i left and told them i would no longer be coming in and explained why.
i was referred to seetec by the papworth trust so seetec then contacted them and told them, and they have asked me to go in tomorrow to write a statement .
but i don't know if i did the right thing or not? is it considered sexual harassment ? what is likely to happen?
i know i will lose my money but i am not too bothered hopefully i will have a job soon

From my limited understanding of the issue, it's sexual harassment if the recipient perceives it as such, irrespective of whether it was intended or not. As you have made the complaint I think you really should see it through.
You haven't given any detail, as is your right, so it's not possible to be any more specific than that.0 -
As always, its only an opinion ...
First I'd tell them to stop, your not going to answer and are here to do a course, their questions are not welcome.
If it continued I'd talk to the hosting company ( I don't know what a seetec is)
Then I'd make a formal complaint if it continued and get the idiots thrown off.
What I wouldn't do is say nothing so the seetec people have no idea, then ring up to say I wont be coming again. Why should you loose out?Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0 -
You're overreacting. It's just a bit of fun.0

It might be, or it could be nasty bullying.we don't know. The lads making the comments might not know its unwanted attention unless they are told too. Be straight up and tell them!Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0 -

And you know this how?
You don't know what was said so you can't possibly say that.
It's clear the OP does not find the attention welcome therefore it automatically becomes harassment.Harassment is any form of unwanted and unwelcome behaviour which may range from mildly unpleasant remarks to physical violence.0 -
1 of the things he asked me was if i spit or swallowed i said i am not going to answer it he then said that means you swallow then (not sure if i am allowed to post this?)0

I'm not sure anyone with an ounce of sense would consider asking that appropriate.
It clearly offended you so you're doing the right thing.0 -

Your opinion is irrelevant. Harassment is never "a bit of fun". Nor is it "banter" or any one of the dozens of other words and phrases used to excuse the behaviour of people with the brain capacity of an amoeba.0 -

I'd find it fun to kick you repeatedly in the head, but you wouldn't enjoy it. So I don't do it.0 -

It depends on the context! In my place I could go up to one or two of the girls and say things like that. They'd have a right laugh! Filthier things have been said at that place!
BUT you can't say that to strangers. You *may* get away with it in that the girl takes it on the chin, but they do have a right to feel harassed over it.
OP, you probably do need to get a thicker skin when you go into proper work, but in this case you are fully justified in what you are doing.0
