Third good nights sleep in a row . :j I did wake briefly just after 5.30am as a helicopter flew over . Not sure if Air sea rescue , air ambulance or police as they are common here on the edge of the coast .For the second time recently the bedside lamp was still on , my book strangely still in my hand - never managed that before - and my reading glasses on the bed luckily undamaged . I feel a lot better and stocking the sleep bank has made a massive difference long needed .
Tink you're really organised stocking the freezer . Should make things easier in the holidays . A few of us were discussing various decades and children on the Garden Fence yesterday . For those lucky to be parents and children these growing up years are the truly golden years for those lucky enough to have good experiences Not so for many but precious if they are kind and caring .
Hopefully your two will form good memories that will shape their character and future all the way to batch cooking and budgeting !
I have never tried frozen onion so perhaps I should give it a go . As I've been trying to pinpoint the changes I need to make to take better care of myself I've realised I am not eating the amount or variety of vegetables I did in the past so that's something to sort . Ready grated cheese is now my best friend . I've always done huge amounts and frozen in batches . There isn't a lot of difference in the block Coop cheese I always buy and the bags of ready grated pricewise . They always have a two for offer on so for now at least that's what I buy .
Hope everyone has a bit of the sun . Sunny again here and slightly warmer but not uncomfortable . I'm off to do a bit of ironing , I think finally I'm beginning to get a bit of a grip on this pacing lark :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Have a good day all .

Unless your holiday is a very long one you seem to be missing .
Am trying to catch up now - though of course I don't stand a cats chance in hell of catching up with everyone's news.
Gotta keep this short today - dins in a few mins as we have a prospective new canine client + owner coming for their meet'n'greet visit at 17:00 (when I'd normally be starting to cook dins). If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Hi everyone, I had quite a good night, only 1 trip to the bathroom, so fairly refreshed today. Just back from meeting up with OH and his cycling group for coffee/tea and cake. Today it was at a lovely little cafe at a small garden which opens to the public (note to self visit and pay to see the gardens, they look lovely). It is a mixture of those who still cycle and those who cannot, or don't wish to and very enjoyable hour or so.:D
Dodged in and out of the garden between the showers yesterday, cannot do very much at a time, but progress is visible (just) and I am so enjoying being out there, even though the dog keeps trying to trip me up with her ball or toy of the moment, she creeps up behind me (border collie) and leaves the article just in the spot I need to step back into:(:(, it causes me a few tricky moments, but have managed not to fall yet:D:D I broke my self imposed no buying of plants rule and bought two to fill gaps and will flower from now until end September hopefully.
Tink hopefully your planning will enable you to enjoy being with your children and have tasty food available with the minimum of effort for the weary days.
Polly I find the frozen onion useful too as well as sweetcorn, peas, spinach and sliced mushrooms, throw them into soups, casseroles, quiches, stir fries etc, but cannot get on with using carrots, beans etc as accompanying veg to a meal. I am back grating my own cheese atm, but have used the ready grated for a couple of years and may well do so again.
Have a good Sunday everyone. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
LW Just a quick word from me as I've already committed myself to a certain amount of the dreaded ironing . Just stopped for a brew .
A little before the humans are due to arrive at the lair I will light my big organic lavender candle . If you can manage to do three things at once:D Try to absorb what the human beans are saying , look at the four legged one as that's your main interest and imagine swathes of lavender and summon up the scent , perhaps you don't like Lavender and that's where the plan fails a bit . I will be sending the vibes . After a short time you'll have your space back .
maddie I'll be back laterIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

I use frozen diced onion, grated carrot that I freeze and I grate and freeze all my cheese in portions when I'm on a good day! I find it saves waste and means I'm not relying on others to chop for me! don't like frozen peppers or frozen sliced mushrooms so DH does them for me 😊
I'm hoping if I can take some big tasks like cooking out of the way I can use my energy elsewhere! My daughter is nearly 8 and I have been teaching her about meal planning and not wasting food. She understands that as I work part time we like to be careful with the food money and not wasting things so we can afford other things like holiday. The only thing I'm terrible at is baking - I think I could do it all if I could bake cakes too 😂
I love batch cooking as means we always have another meal for another time too! Doing chilli today and think that's me done for this weeks cooking. Making the meal plan now for the1st week of the holidays.
It's still pouring today so another wash drying indoors - I hate drying stuff inside but DH needs shirts for work next week.
Think if the weather is like this tomorrow I'll get all the lego out of the loft and set it up on the dining table - it's like having new toys when it's been put away for a while and you get it all out again!Living the simple life0 -
Pollyanna thank you:A and as it happens, I love lavender; I have quite a bit growing in the garden, and love to watch the bees working on it.
I think the visit went well; Mia is one lovely dog; we took her for a little walk, and she was very good walking with the mobility scooter; she also spent quite a bit of the chat time lying on Mr LW's feet.
Despite being a very strong dog - she's the type of Staffie with the very broad head and deep chest - she was no problem; and she accepted biscuits from both Mr LW and myself (apparently she will only take a biscuit from people she likes) so I'm hopeful that we shall get the booking. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Good evening everyone,
I'd give my eye teeth for a decent night's sleep and the new meds have skewed it further, still at least I'm not trying to balance work and/or family so if I need a nap I have one.
Tink you're absolutely right to do what you need to do to maximise time with your daughter they are only wee once and it goes by in a blink!
Apart from a visit from my friends with now almost fully grown labradoodle I've had a really quiet day as been quite "wabbit" used too many spoons over the last couple of days I think!0 -
Caronc I feel your pain, I'd love a decent night's sleep. I laid awake til gone 04:00 last night.
Even though yesterday's meet'n'greet visit seemed to go well, I still laid there going over and over all the minutiae in my mind, how I could have done better, how I didn't phrase things as well as I'd have liked, the whole nine yards. I do this every time I have to interact with other people, and I just do not know how to not do it.
Answers on a postcard please......If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
LW
I am sure that you were fine but if you had phrased everything perfectly it would have felt scripted and not real or sincere. As it was I am sure it was obvious how genuine you were.
