Thank you Polly, I was not thinking that I would not be welcome, more a case of having nothing much to contribute at the time. I understand from other sources how stressful the change to PIP is for so many people and hope that things will be easier going forward.

I have come across Monnagran on other threads, she sounds a great lady and I too hope that her communication problems are sorted soon.

    Afternoon!....and hallo to Maddiemay!

Thanks Pollyanna...Friday's coffee morning was mostly enjoyable! My only complaint was the sheer number of people and the NOISE! Part of my autism is that I cannot filter out sounds...I hear EVERYTHING going on....I could hear every conversation in the rom (whether directed at me or not)...all the noises from the 'inner room' (such as the kettle)...and noises from the street (it was so warm that the door was open....my brain just got overloaded...so I didn't last anywhere near the full 2 hours!

Tasks for the coming week include filing away the last of the PiP paperwork into the relevant folder and box....the hopefully forget it for a nice long while!....Oh apart from one small issue to resolve....The payments start in July...with a small back payment and then regular ones after that (it is a tad confusing with the way their dates go!)...however, I have moved from DLA lower (both components) to Pip Enhanced Care. Lower Mobility...and as I receive ESA (Support as well, then I think I need to check if I will also be getting the Severe Disability Component (or whatever it is called!)

As for pacing oneself.....I succeed in some things bit not in others!....I live alone (albeit with my lovely Mum just next door) and do my best to remain independent...and that DOES sometimes result in my doing too much! (Let's face it....cleaning out the fridge is difficult to stop/start...I did that last week and got everything out and was wiping the shelves when I realised just HOW big a job this was going to be!....but the stuff was out and I wanted it back in ASAP!...Doing the bottom shelf I sat on the floor so I could reach the back and then spent a good couple of minutes having to work out how to get up again!!!!)

I am considering getting a cleaner ...initially just every fortnight to do the stuff that I really do find difficult .(To be honest the sitting on the kitchen floor had an element of humour...okay I got down, somehow I MUST be able to get up....but there are days when I know I wouldn't have done it...I'd have had to crawl to the phone and get help!!!)....I get the Enhanced Care for a reason....and sometimes I need to remind myself of that (if that makes sense!).

I took meds last night...so slept through the night like a baby! (daft phrase that....I know some babies who are awake most of the night!)....and dozed for a good portion of this afternoon too!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Hi everyone I'm feeling a lot better these last couple of days although I'm still taking it easy as don't want to push it! I didn't end up doing an online shop my lovely Mam took me and helped me put everything away - she is great!

I've never seen anyone discribe this as a 'complaining' thread? I prefer it as I can't keep up with the likes of 'fly lady' or 'why are you making for dinner' type threads as my life just doesn't run like that. I work PT have 2 kids, a mortgage and bills to pay a DH who works all hours to look after us - it just so happens I have an illness that makes life a bit complicated some times :)

I've had a cleaner for about 18 months and she comes once a fortnight and does the big jobs I can't manage. It's a great help - sometimes she just does her usual routine and sometimes I'll specifically ask her to do a perticular job but it's a huge help.

    Hope everyone is well and

Prinzess My daughter doesn't have Autism but she has always had sensory overload and problems in enclosed spaces so I can understand how you must have felt at the coffee morning .
Once the newness and novelty wears off you will probably find visiting the craft shop much more enjoyable .
Funnily enough I was putting away the last of the paperwork earlier .
Being able to reread her last paper ESA claim helped my daughter a lot when filling this one in .
The PIP was obviously new but having all the recent form to refer to next time should again make things less stressful .
I think you should investigate the severe disability payment . I know very little about it myself but I'm sure Alice or one of the other posters on the disability thread will have the relevant information .
A cleaner for the more challenging jobs could really make a difference .
I love the fact that you always find humour in various situations .
Our doctors surgery has music in the waiting room , not too loud but enough to offer some privacy to people at reception .
Oh the irony of some of those songs ! Sometimes we're helpless with laughter and others have no idea why . The reception staff grin along because they know exactly why we're laughing .
I'd much rather laugh than cry any day and we are both blessed with a sense of humour .

maddiemay I hope you enjoyed your time in the sun . My house and garden have pretty well gone to pot too . My problem is I start intending to do just a small amount and end up doing much too much .
You weeding a 12 inch square would be the sort of thing I'd start but then end up filling the garden bin and staggering in as it was going dark . I need to learn to pace but so far it's eluding me .
I did spend a little time wandering round the garden , by ignoring the weeds and the shrubs and trees that need cutting back I focused on what's going on . The sheer power of long established plants and shrubs to survive and thrive in spite of neglect is truly amazing .
The roses ' honeysuckles and clematis all look better for being left do do their thing as do the flowering shrubs and all the perennials .
I kept finding hidden delights among the weeds and it lifted my spirits . I sat on the arbour with a cup of tea and remembered Bonnie the little dog belonging to a previous poster . I remembered back when I copied bonnie just enjoying the sunny moment so I gig the same again and feel all the better for it .

Tink Glad you're feeling a bit better , At least the shopping is in and sorted . I am on a few os threads and have good friends there but I also understand how you feel . Part of the reason I started this thread is to talk to others who have to compromise in various ways in day to day life as it doesn't always run in an everyday routine way and I for one can't follow a set plan as goalposts move and other things take priority .I hope that here we can see another type of normal which isn't wrong just a bit different .
You are sensible to have a cleaner if it makes your life less stressful .

Anyway nearly time for Poldark so I hope you all have a good night .

It really is the best thing I've done and it makes such a huge difference! The kids have had some shepherds pie from the freezer (HM) and there is a portion left for DH when he gets in - I've just had a shower and will probably have an early night with a cup of tea!

My friend and I were talking and she suggested I make a list with just 1 thing to accomplish each day - I can choose what suits on that day so a mix of big and small jobs and it means I'm dining something each day - that's such a great idea for me so I will write a list and then can cross off as I go to see what I have managed. Today it was ordering the kids uniforms for September on line ✅ something small each day

    Hello again .
Caronc How did the appointment with the specialist go , any magic wands ?
Hi, sorry not really been posting the last few days as I've had my elder son & his partner home and also been knocked a bit sideways with an ear infection.

Sadly as expected no magic wands but hopefully some progress. Appointment was hard going lots more tests but the results of these have led the specialist to suspect as well as the Meniere's Disease I also have Migraine Associated Vertigo (without headache) and the two conditions are aggravating each other which has caused the different (non-faulty) bits of my balance system to stop talking to each other. There's no cure but I start a new drug once I finish the antibiotic to see if it can subdue things a little bit so fingers crossed. The downside is it will make me feel dire for a month or so and I've to have weekly monitoring but if it helps it will be worth it :D

Caronc At least your doctor seems to be on the case . I hope once the new meds kick in you will feel some benefit .
We all understand how low things can feel as a new med regime kicks in so remember we are here for both the good and bad days '

Tink I'm glad you feel a little more positive . The suggestion by your friend is brilliant . In fact today I've eaten two "frogs " as the flyladies say and put loads of washing soda and boiling water down the sinks and drains and given the bathroom a deep clean .
Tired now but your post motivated me to pick two needed things .
I will try to stick to at least one a day .

Prinzess I keep meaning to ask you about the water boiler you've mentioned a few times .
I didn't post yesterday as my fingers and wrists were agony . I recalled your posts and it seemed to me being able to make a hot drink , noodles or similar as you do would be good for the unable to safely lift a kettle days .
I had a google earlier and found mainly tea urn type things !!!
I did find a few one cup types on Argos and other sites . I wonder if you would post the details of the one you use as it sounds fit for purpose and you don't seem to have any problems with it .

Hope to post later , fingers permitting .

Hi Polly...hope you are feeling better!....Gentle virtual hugs for Caronc too!

My Water-Boiler is from Lakeland ( one of my favourite stores!)...they no longer make the exact design I have...but this is very similar...

    http://www.lakeland.co.uk/70560/Lakeland-Coffee-On-The-Move-One-Touch-Filter-Coffee-Machine

Although marketed as a coffee maker (as mine was!) the description says you can make a travel mug of your drink of choice. (You remove the coffee filter and it simple boils the water and dispenses it into the mug....you just put your tea bag or soup mix ...or hot choc powder et.c into the mug and let the water pour into the cup.)

You can set the thing up next to you on a table, and keep a bottle of water handy...when you want a drink, pour cold water into the little tank...close the lid, pop the mug onto its stand....press one button and in a minute or so you have a drink in your travel mug....no lifting a kettle of hot water!

I do love mine....but have to admit this shiny one with the travelmug looks very nice...do I need to upgrade??????????
