Prinzess Although I can picture how stressful sorting these things must have been , there are many positives there .
Quiet but firm insistence is the best way to sort things in the least stressful way .
I feel sure all should be well with the face to face . I know you will be anxious but try to limit the time you give head space by doing your craft , going to see the squirrels with mum or any things that bring you joy x

Meanwhile How are you all ?

LW I intended to post yesterday and didn't get the chance .
Hope you had a good day yesterday and wishing you many more .
:):bdaycake:sorry for the cake which is very much not your style!
Well we actually have some sun today, still cold and set to get much colder over the next few days .
Things have been busy so I haven't been online much .
DD has finally got her appointment through for Barbotage . Hospital phoned yesterday . Is a hospital some distance away but hopefully worth the journey . It's 4 weeks away but at least she now knows it will happen

I'll get back later to see how everyone is doing .
    Take care

Hi LW You seem to be on a roll with the four legged friends , good to see the return of Ronnie .
Can you think of some sort of project or diversion for MrLW ? Failing that do you have a shed or something you can accidently lock him in every now and then ?
I am very happy with my own company when allowed . I need the headspace to process my thoughts and do my own thing so I can understand that although you think the world of him you need some time alone .
Do you share a desktop, laptop or whatever ? I'm upstairs on the laptop at the moment although the modem is downstairs . DD used to have a desktop upstairs but after a few laptops she went back to a desktop downstairs but uses her smartphone too .
Has he any interests that would take him outdoors sometimes ?
I don't know what to come up with really .
    pollyx
I don't think there is an easy answer; our bungalow consists of: Lounge (where everything, but everything is done), Kitchen (not conducive to sitting and working, as worktop space is minimal), Bedroom (again, free space non-existant), Storage room (officially 2nd bedroom but full of crates of supplies and no room to swing a cat), Bathroom (tiny). That's it!!
We have a desktop, a laptop and a netbook; we officially share the desktop, but Mr LW tends to hog it. We also have the WiiU (used really only for fitness games) and a PS2, both of which are attached to the only TV in the place. All of this tech is in the lounge!! No smartphones, only "dumb" phones, no tablets (other than the medical sort, lol)
Mr LW's only real diversion is video games - either on the desktop or the PS2, as the mood takes him. He really doesn't "do" outdoors unless I'm out there with him (plus I need to keep an eye on him in the garden as he doesn't know a nettle from a nasturtium). *rolls eyes*

LW can you not just ask him to naff off for a bit? In the nicest way poss of course ;)
:T That, methinks, is probably the only way to get some privacy to do my WiiFit in peace. Trying to do Yoga when Mr LW is walloping the bejasus out of monsters, in the persona of Geralt of Rivia...... well, I'll leave it to your imagination! :rotfl:

Today I asked if he had something to do, and he made the mistake of saying no.... so he got shooed off into the storage room with polish and a duster in his paw! :rotfl:

    Where is everyone ?

I know that's a bit cheeky coming from the worst op in the history of mse but have been very lacking in spoons and barley on the forum .

So where are you hiding LW I've looked in your usual haunts and you ain't there . I hope everything is ok .

I know Prinzess , Caronc and others are still around .

That all sounds a bit stalky but you know what I mean .

Anyway I've mentioned this thread to someone elsewhere on the forums so we can't let her come to a deserted thread if she wishes to join in over here .

I'll be back on tomorrow ' look at the time  I must drag myself to bed .

    Yes! I am still here!

As Pollyanna (and no doubt others!) know from the Disability forum , I have got through the DLA to PiP transfer....highly stressful, but I have the award that I felt I deserved (although the HCP/DWP decision maker and I disagree on the actual descriptors, we agreed on the actual award so I am letting it rest!...and I link the HCP and the Decision Maker because they may as well be the same person...the report the HCP made was simply copied across word for word - including the errors!)

I am not coping well in the heat...I never did. Roll on Autumn!!!!

We have a lovely new craft/gift shop opened just round the corner...officially opens on Friday...I will pop by for the opening...my lovely Mum has a shelf there!

Good morning Prinzess it's lovely too see you here again .
The heat wipes me out too . I did intend to come back on here a few weeks ago but first a virus and then the hot and humid weather meant a lack of decent sleep for weeks .

I think you were wise to settle for the recent award , if you need to be reviewed in the future you will be ready to go for the higher one .
I think it's highly likely less the system will be more like the old DLA where everyone isn't being assessed face to face .

The assessing everyone was hard but understandable after so many years of DLA generally being auto renewed .

I think testing pretty well everyone did cause a lot of anxiety and fear as the system was overwhelmed and there were very long waits for the process to be gone through .

My daughter found the form much better as it had more clarity on mental health and seemed to cover things DLA didn't .

That's wonderful news about the craft shop . I have envy - mind you I have stuff and stashes to last forever . Your mum never ceases to amaze me . I wish she could bottle some of that energy and send me some :)
    See you later .
    polly xx

Yes Polly, the heat does NOT make sleeping easier!....I have lose quite a bit of weight - when I gathered up too-big clothes for the charity shop, I deliberately kept a couple of over-sized tee-shirts and nighties...cotton ones....They are reasonably cool!

The PiP forms were time-consuming to fill in- and a bit repetitive at times as I referenced the same reports again and again....on paper, they DO seem to allow more focus on mental health. However, the HCP ignored pretty much all my mental health issues and concentrated on physical ones - even when the report was written by the same specialist!

The only 'higher' award I could claim would be the Mobility (I already get enhanced for care - my physical needs more than scored high enough)....and that will only change of the government make a U-turn on their decision re mental health and mobility...under the 'old' ruling I would get enhanced mobility too. (unable due to psychological stress to go to unfamiliar places unaided....which the government no longer accept)

My biggest shock was the duration....they acknowledge the ongoing nature of my physical conditions and the unlikelihood of any improvement and I have a 10 year award - which would all but take me to pension age!

The craft/gift shop is a lovely place...a very clever idea. The owner has half the shop for her own crafts, and rents shelves in the other half (and no commission) ...she also rents out a work table in the middle of the shop, for 'classes' in crafts - currently looking at embroidery, block-printing and I think card-making....crochet, knitting and drawing/sketching are possibilities. (teacher rents the table area from owner, students pay a small fee to teacher)...and she wants to have regular coffee mornings too.....I'm really hoping she does well!

I hope you are fully recovered from the nasty virus!

Prinzess I got a bit confused with your award . You are correct the new format doesn't look at the mental health issues in the same way DLA did when it comes to mobility .

My daughter was always high care and low mobility from the age of 16 with DLA . She was always assessed on paper until the transfer to PIP . Although her mobility worsened over the years we never did the reporting of a worsening of conditions as to be honest too much else was going on .

Her award for PIP is enhanced for both which is in line with medical evidence and the assessors report .

I'm really pleased to read how long your award is for , that will help with peace of mind .

DDs is only a couple of years but I'm hoping after this initial sorting out of all claimants now , much will go back to paper assessments or automatic renewals for those with proven long term illness .

There are a few old windmills and cotton mills not so far from here that have been converted into artisan workshops and various curio and secondhand sellers units . Two of them have a large floor with the sort of craft outlet you describe .
It's such a good outlet for crafters to put their talents out there .
Some are hobby crafters who welcome a little extra income while others go on to establish online shops .
It's lovely to see crafting endure in such a commercial age .
I hope you both have a lovely day on Friday .

The virus is still lingering although hopefully on its way out . The last year has seen my daughter picking up every bug going and as she likes to share passing it on to me .
Each version has featured a post viral sting in the tale which is often worse than the original version .

I was looking at the post I made in the early hours this morning , oh the typos !
Spoons are useful I reckon barley only for soup . Should of course read barely .

I never notice others on this thread making so many typos , what's the secret ?

    polly :)

:wave:Hello, good to see the thread revisited.

I've been using lots of spoons in the last few days so a quiet day today. I've no change health-wise and I'm heading back to see the balance specialist on Wednesday.
