Wednesday I'm pleased the appointment was what you wanted; it sounds like you'll get some good benefit - do you have to high-tail it into London every week?

Yes, I have to go to central London as she is fully booked up for local appointments. I was nervous about going there as I haven't been out in ages, but it was okay in the end. I had forgotten that everyone just ignores you completely anyway.:rotfl:

Hopefully, it won't be too bad now I know how to actually find my way there.:D

Been out into town today - seriously did NOT want to go, but Mr LW needed a haircut (I could've tied ribbons in his hair!!)

He departed to the barbers and left me to cope with getting my meds from the pharmacy and the fruit'n'veg shop - TWO people asked me if was "alright" - OMG I could've melted into the floor. :(
I know they mean well and all that, but I just cannot deal with people - STRANGERS - speaking to me. *cries*
Just want to disappear and never ever resurface now. :(
Gods alone know how I'm going to deal with the meet'n'greet visit tomorrow.
Just want to *not* wake up tomorrow morning.

  • Oh Lamewolf...I feel your pain!...I sometimes wish that there was a convention - a bit like sticks for the partially-sighted/blind/deaf-blind...different colours depict various disabilities...I would like one in a designated colour that very politely, but pointedly indicates 'please stay well away from me!'...I really can't cope with strangers. And it can take DAYS to recover!....I hope that a good sleep will bring you to the point that you can manage the meet/greet.

I had an optician appointment this morning...I was accompanied by Mum who was allowed in to each area/room with me...the whole thing took over two hours and I was zonked for the rest of the day....I have new glasses on order, ready next week (so I have to go back for ANOTHER appointment for the 'fitting')...I have 2 pairs, distance and readers...and get a voucher towards paying, plus the tints are also free (as the optician confirms they are medically justified)...I have no idea what they look like on...Mum chose the frames from the three or four options provided (I am VERY limited with frames because of my lens-prescription)...pinky oval frames for distance (amber tint)...and blueish for reading (grey tint).

I use Super-Salve Active Care balsam sometimes for my pains....it's very soothing and acts quite quickly....even better when accompanied by a warm wheat bag!

I grabbed a quick ready-prepared meal for dinner (couldn't bring myself to actually 'cook' this evening....too tired...a freezer is SO useful for days like this!)

  • Good evening

It seems to have got very dark all of a sudden.

This hot/cold wet/dry weather doesn't do me any favours. I seem to be able to cope with one or the other.

For me Volterol gel has worked well on small areas such as knuckles, fingers and elbows but not noticeable when used on larger ones.

I also struggle at times with crowds and even going out sometimes. It is such a turnaround from the person I was before. My excursions out have also been curtailed as my partner and I have started to share a car so I get it evenings and weekends. I find having the car gives me confidence in knowing I can get away as soon as I feel the need.

However tomorrow I have arranged to meet a friend for coffee. I know I will want to cancel but once there, it will be fine. It will be fine.

It's good to be able to admit to these type of feelings and helps to reduce their power over me.

    Have a good week everyone

  • Quick post from me tonight . Drs appointment was fine , The waiting room was packed this morning and most people were coughing and sneezing so we were glad to escape .
About an hour after coming home I started to feel dizzy and nauseous . I don't think I'm actually sick I think it may be all the appointments that have seemed never ending over the past year . There have been four in the last seven days as dd had the other US scan on her thigh on Sunday .
A good nights sleep will hopefully make a difference . Our usual driver took us today in his own car and will be doing the same for the long awaited main consultant appt a week tomorrow . I'm not looking forward to that one !

I just want to wish LW well tomorrow for the meet and greet . You will manage it . There's a golden retriever in need of loving kindness which you can offer in spades . Know we will be thinking of you and imagine the lavender .
We try as much as possible to leave breathing space either side of stressful situations as otherwise it makes dd even more anxious . You've got a busy week with two more guests on Friday . At some point if you can it's worth discussing with MrLW how not to add to the stress by doing something else that is also stressful .

Good to see you back Maddie .

Cranky I hope you are still managing to follow Drs orders . I know it's frustrating but it needs time .

I'll catch up properly tomorrow hopefully feeling more like myself again . Wishing all a good night , you too LW .
    polly x

There but for fortune go you and I.
  • :hello: everyone.

I woke up feeling a bit less stiff this morning, I'm not sure that the 5-HTP could have worked that quickly?

I'm also happy that since I saw the therapist on Monday I haven't had any nightmares. That is really unusual for me even for two nights of sleep.:)

I got up and went downstairs to get some water this morning. I added a spoonful of aloe vera juice again and went back to lie down for a while. My stomach started making noises again so it must be the aloe vera! It wasn't as loud as yesterday and it didn't go on for so long, but it must be doing something.:p Aloe vera apparently has lots of health benefits so I'm going to stick with it.

I woke up with my head buzzing as well. I wrote a new to-do list!:D My body doesn't seem as energetic (!) so I think I will just have a 20 minute walk today and just relax, read and watch TV for the rest of the day.

Thanks for thinking of me Polly. I'm being referred to the tissue viability nurses next as nothing is doing what it should and they are the experts. Hope you're feeling better this morning.

I'm still here. Meet'n'greet done; it was sc-c-c-ary, but Meg the Retriever is an absolute sweetie. She's nearly 16 years old, but very fit and active for her age; so I've told the dog-sitting franchisee I'm happy to take her (the idea of the meet'n'greet is that both owner AND carer have to be happy with the arrangement, so it makes sense; it's just not easy for me at the time).
Polly yesterday wasn't Mr LW's fault; we'd agreed he'd have his hair cut, as I could've tied ribbons in it! It's just unfortunate that there was a queue of 5 people in front of him, and only 2 barbers on duty - and of course, being the stubborn donkey I am, I didn't want to sit around waiting if I could go and do all the other stuff myself. :o

Prinzess I knew you'd get what I meant; I agree about a colour-coded stick to say "keep away from me, please". :D

Worst one is when you get a dog-owner who is a "hugger". I simply don't do hugs in RL (though I'm happy to give & receive Virtual ones) - and the owner of one of my favourite dogs is a hugger.....

Anyways, we've got through it and I've retained some vestige of sanity. ;)

Painfree vibes for all OS-ers dealing with poor health - I don't want to list everyone, as I just know I'll accidentally omit a name. :o
