Thanks Polly, I did manage to get out though I think was over excited and went a bit too mad. Going out for various reasons 4 times in same number of days has left me completely flat today. I managed a load of washing and that was it.
I have had the flu jab since being diagnosed with diabetes 15 years ago and always hope not to miss it as used to suffer from awful bronchitis EVERY year but not had it since started jabs.
I do try to eat healthily but being diabetic and coeliac can make decisions about meals difficult.Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.0 -

Mr LW is currently at the Fang Farrier's for his 6-monthly check-up. I'm glad that's something else I don't have to bother with, as I don't have a single tooth of my own left.
It's bloomin' chilly in Concrete Cow Country today, too; I think I might try a little easy yoga while Mr LW is out (I dislike having him watch, as it's embarrassing if he sees me fall over, as usually happens) and by that time it'll be time for Bluebell's walk.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
I thought I was the only one to throw the laundry over the side of the banister down the stairs.:D It's much easier than carrying it down.
I also leave the clean laundry in the basket at the bottom of the stairs and either get my husband to put it away or if he is out take a few items up each time to save carrying the whole thing upstairs.
I had the phone session today and it lasted about 50 minutes. She is calling me back later today or tomorrow. She said that it might be a 1-2 month wait to see someone. I'm not sure if that is a long wait or not? Either way, that is fine with me. She was quite nice and put me at ease.:)0 -
I don't have a banister to chuck the washing over. Our stairs go through the middle of the house with my room and the bathroom to one side and the house troll's room and the spare room to the other. If I throw it down the stairs and it doesn't go far enough I then have to bend over on the stairs to pick it up.....I've bought 2 smaller washing baskets with handles, one for colours, one for whites. That will have to do for now.
I have been repeatedly told that the flu virus isn't live so it can't make me ill....yet it does. I'm allergic to a lot of things though (still have a bullseye mark on my front from the cardiac monitor gel) so maybe that has something to do with it? I was allergic to the house troll when I was pregnant which is apparently so rare my midwife aunty had never seen a case before and my consultant said he'd only seen it twice and he retired just before HT was born.
Thanks for your good wishes everyone. I seem to have been mostly sleeping through it (although the pain wakes me up every hour to two hours). I feel a bit more "with it" today though so I'm assuming I'm over the worst. As the house troll says "you keep saying what if something bad happens - well it did and we coped". For those of you that haven't known me as long as some on this forum there is just me and the house troll (who used to be the house elf) as I was widowed when the HT was 4. The HT is 12 now and has been very helpful since i hurt myself.
Take care all of you.0 -

I'm another who used to throw the laundry downstairs!....so much easier living in a ground floor flat!
I seem to have been 'lucky' with the flu jabs...I do get a rather noticeable lump, when the jab 'takes' - and it can be REALLY itchy for a few days...but I have only been ill once...and that was the year that we had the swine-flu jab alongside the standard one. I barely made it back home before collapsing after that.....if I get a cold/flu it always seems to settle on the chest, and my bronchitis doesn't respond well to standard antibiotics, so it has come to hospitalisation as an option in the past - so I am happy that I CAN take the jab and thus limit the chances of a chest infection.
I do have a microfiber mop...which makes a swish around easier...I will have to consider the idea of chemical-free liquids.
We have had the council workmen round today...checking the fire-alarms and the water pipes (yearly checks)...it seems my shower is not heating up to the required temperature, so they have said they will book a full service check in the next week or so - but it looks like I might need a bright shiny new shower! (I asked for one when I moved in, but the old one was still working so they said I had to keep it.....so I am holding-my-thumbs that the service check will show they can't repair it!)0 -
I have a steam mop nowadays. It's fab for my wooden floors, n the occasional doggy accident
Talking of smears, I had a total hysterectomy years ago, but used to have a major fear of them"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

I only go upstairs when I know family are visiting and staying over so I need to put fresh towels in the upstairs bathroom and change the bedding . I drop any dirty washing over the bannister and if there is any rubbish I put it in a carrier bag, knot it tightly and lob it downstairs. I never ever go up or downstairs without a hand on a stair rail.
Could you go upstairs with a pillowcase, put dirty washing inside, fold it and chuck it downstairs to keep things together?
When my hair was growing out I used to get a cheap semi dye from a pound shop just to tide me over and I eventually ended up with an all over colour I thought was silver but Dds insist is platinum"This site is addictive!"

Good evening everyone,
Just popping in to say I'm glad everyone is "keeping on, keeping on" as they say there's nowt else for it!
Tomorrow my manager is coming round as I'm officially "retiring" on 30/09 so I need to hand back all my passes etc. I have to say it feels very odd that after almost 34 years I'll soon be an ex-civil servant :cool:0 -
I have to vent. I called my old MH department a couple of weeks ago and was told by them to go to my GP and ask her to refer me to the local MH service instead. I said on here that I had the telephone assessment yesterday. The woman called me back later yesterday and said that she has to refer me back to the MH department I was with before! Why is it with MH issues you get passed around to different places before you end up in the right place?
I gave all my information at the start so they knew my MH history etc.. It's so infuriating. The past two weeks were a complete waste of time as I had contacted the correct department on my first phonecall to them! Grrr.:mad:The only problem is when the dog happens to be walking past and ends up with a pair of knickers on her head. :rotfl:
Lol.
I have 3 cats and 2 dogs and I have been known to drop washing down the stairs without checking and throw my clothes onto them.:o2025 GOALS
